I just recieved my reproduction pot metal tail trim from pgclassics for my 68 Charger and it is beautiful. I haven`t test fit it yet but I did compare the one nos piece of c-trim that I have to the repop part and it is identical. The part number is on the repop part but the pentastar isn`t there. Thanks to Peter Gee for reproducing some of the hardest to find parts for our Chargers. I also bought the 4 speed console top plate and it just perfect. Now hopefully he will repop the console door. Anyone that was hesitating to purchase these parts don`t worry, they look to be very high quality. The only down fall is that they are made in China.

They have them available. They have quite a few new items but it look like the website hasn`t been updated lately. Here`s an ebay link to the tail trim pieces. Contact them through their website, you`ll get a better price than ebay.

How much cheaper? My cores would have to be refinished, and then add in insured shipping back and forth and I`d still end up with rechromed used parts. Been there done that. For the price I feel it is worth it. Now I can sell my used trim and the one piece of nos trim on ebay. The nos piece alone should cover the cost of the repop parts. I`m not restoring a kept in the glass box HEMI car, I`m restoring the car to excellent driver quality.

charge-it, could you shoot some pics for us? I've been waiting for someone to buy one of the top plates so I could get a good look at one.

Has anybody else bought from PG? How is their service and quality? I REALLY like some of their third gen Charger stuff. My 73 S/E was originally a fairly loaded 318 car, I have added front and rear spoilers, bulge hood, 15" rally wheels, and a Tuff steering wheel. I have a 71-72 hideaway headlight grille/bumper setup, a 72 Rally rear bumper/taillights (they have the lenses) and all the big and little stuff to put a big block in it, including the big brakes, exh manifolds K=member and an 8-3/4 rear axle.  I really like those new taillight lenses and the "macnine gun" stainless exhaust tips. They have some other small stuff that I can use as well.

Any thoughts or opinions of PG?

Thanks

Here are some pics of the 68 style 4 speed console top plate. The dcp label and part number are cast into it but it looks like the pentastar has been ground off. I won`t be test fitting until later on this fall.

Looks great! Not sure about this one, but my factory 68 console plates are painted argent in those boarders. Looks like they did this one the same way.

Yes, the borders are painted argent silver. They also included the z-shaped steel tab that is used on the front of this plate to mount it. Hopefully the will make the console door, otherwise this part will make the rest of the console trim look like crap.

Here are some pics of the 68 c-shape tail chrome. The set comes with all 4 pieces. I`ve done a side by side comparison of the repop part and the one piece of nos trim I have and they are identical except the repop pieces  are nicer! It looks like the attempt to remove the pentastar on the repop parts was minimal as it can still be seen. These are quality parts in my opinion. Most originals are pitted and need to be refinished and nos parts when found are way more expensive than the repop parts. Try and find a complete set of 68 NOS pot metal tail trim, that could take years and megabucks.

Heres a side by side view of the repop part and the nos part. The nos part is on the left.

<p>The next two pics are of the repop part.

The next pics is of the NOS part.

The rest of the pics are of the complete repop set.

I had my stuff re-plated, the same four pieces that you show, for $290 bucks.  Ouch.  I don't know what you paid for the re-pops, but it probably is < that.  My butt is still sore from that transaction.  :-[

Man, they look friggin' nice , though.

charge-it, thanks for posting the pics. That top plate looks pretty good to me, are you happy with it?

SeattleCharger

Glad they are making misc. parts like that available.

Anyone know where to get the glove box latch piece, the side in the door?   thank, Nate

Why would you want anything else?  Just give me a Charger and I'll be happy.

hotrod98

Hey Rene, A lot of guys either don't have the old parts to replate or they're too pitted up to replate. I bought an E-body shifter plate from them and it worked great. Had to go to the hardware store to get the tiny little screws though. They should have been included with the plate in my opinion, but I'm not going to complain. I'm happy and I hope these guys are around for a long time. I wish they had been there when I was putting my 71 cuda together.

I'm glad these parts are available now. I've just had bad luck with repro parts . they never seem to fit like the originals. Rene
