HELP!!!! The 71 chassis manual doesn't show the solenoid wiring for the ramcharger hood. (at least I haven't found it yet) Can anyone out there who has one of these tell me where it is wired to? I'm assuming that it would go to any "hot" lead when the ignition switch is in the "run" position if my assumption on how it works is correct. Solenoid is "energized" and when the vacuum switch is in the closed position it keeps the door closed? When the cars is shut off the vacuum bleeds off and the door stays closed??? Any help would be appreciated.

Close but not quite how it works.  The idea is to shut the door when the car is turned off, regardless of the switch position.  And I don't think that it bleeds off the vacuum -- I think it uses the vacuum in the can to shut the door (I have to say that I have not dug into this area of my car so I might be wrong).  Here is a pic of mine.  Reading from left to right it is the manual choke, the rear defogger, then the ramcharger.  Hope this helps, Kim.

Thank you for the help, Kim. Regardless of how it does work, I still need to know where the solenoid is wired to.

Call Allen Wilson, fro wilson production.  He manufactures many air grabber parts and knows how they work.  314 487-3298.

Can anyone post a few pics of the vacuum can mounting and where the lvacuum lines pass through the cowl/firewall for the ramcharger hood?

Very helpful with the solenoid wiring, its operation and basic locations of the can and lines but a picture is worth a thousand words and he doesn't have any pics at this time.

i agree, I have not gotten that far yet, but when you get a picture I would appreciated it you could email it or send a copy to me as well.  I will do the same if I come across it.

Well, everything is installed and now it's time to install the hoses for the switch. Does anyone have any tips on how to get the hoses through the cowl without having to remove the heater box? Is it possible to do it by just removing the glove box? Any and ALL tips will be appreciated!!!!

- Do you NEED that Solenoid, seems like a lot of expense just to close the door
- Did you find a way to route house rich??

Thanks nascar...BUT

- The pictures are for a '70 Air grabber...looking to see where the lines actually go through the firewall on a '71-'72
- The link while helpful, doesn't answer the question if I need that solenoid, it kind of hints it will work without it but still looking for a definitive answer
