getting the car prepped for paint , and was wondering is  220 grit not fine enough ?

What are you doing? Blocking the primer? Or Color Sanding the paint for buffing?

Paint Reps recommend no finer then 400 wet or 320 dry for final sanding, before painting.

I block my cars with 180, reprime, then 220, reprime, then finish with 400. Seal then base then clear.

320 wet might be too course of paper to try and cover with the paint. Like I mentioned before. I use 400 wet for my finial sanding. 360 wet would be as course as I would go. Otherwise you will be putting on an extra layer of paint to cover the scratches.

 On quickey spot job's have used 320, but the good stuff I would go with 400 as well.
