I'm planning on putting a Factory-appearing skidplate on my Charger's K-frame.
Rather than hunt one down, I'll make one....just as I did my Torque Boxes.
What I need is some good shots of one, prefereably from several angles, with a measuring tape along side for a reference.
Is there anybody out there?  :icon_smile_big:

I had help making some skid plates for a couple of my 68's. There is a few people out there
making these. Here is a couple pictures of the one's I put in my cars. They make 1in 2in and 3in
drop plates.

What is the purpose of the skid plate?

Why didn't they put it on all of the K-frames?

I am thinking that not all the Chargers had oil pans that went that low. I still wish they did them all that way. I had to fix my 7 qt pan the last time my 383 was out of it bay.
If it ain't wide open; it ain't running.        Rule number one in motocross racing: Pin it; row the gear box; and wait until you hit something.     At work my motto is: If you need me, call someone else.

Those are some great pictures guys!
Any chance of getting measurements as per this diagram?

Here's what I took from my original '69 Skid Plate:

1.  1"
2.  2-1/2"
3.  4-1/4"
4.  6-1/4" (depends on where you hook the tape due to the "V" - see below)
5.  1-1/4""
6.  11-1/4"

As you might suspect from some of those dimensions, My skid plate is shaped like the ones in Dan's first posts.  The width dimension at the rear (11-1/4") is the same at the front rather than being semi-pie shaped like the one in Dan's last pictures.

Considering the differences between the two styles, the dimensions I gave you might not help too much.  I don't know - are the '69 and '68 plates different?

I am very sure 68 and 69's are the same. The ones I put on are an aftermarket unit from

I was not interested in correctness, just wanted to have a little extra protection for the Hemi pans I like to run.

I found a great picture of a Hemi Skidplate...from a 1969 Charger 500.
It seems that there it is basically rectangular in shape, with a one inch lift in the back, tapering to nothing in the front. The backside is curved to match the contour of the oil pan relief.
It think I can come up with the dimensions from this.

Thanks to all that forwarded info.
