Charger 500 - One Piece Fiberglass Body

Found this ad on page 92 of the July 1969 edition of Popular Hot Rodding. Anyone hear about this one piece fiberglass Charger 500 body before? There is a picture that shows the complete body with two guys holding it up.

I remember seeing a one piece, '68 or '69 Charger body for sale at Carlisle one year. (Maybe about 6 to 8 years ago?) The price was $3000 & I believe it was a 3/4 size body in decent shape. I thought it was so cool to see an old funny car body survive & for sale.

I bought a fiberglass trends funny car body out of San Francisco a few years ago. Had been in storage for years. They are still out there.

You say it was a 3/4 sized body? Not full sized? I would have thought they would be full sized, but I could be wrong. If it was intended to be a funny car style body, then I'm assuming that it would be shrunk down a bit in the front, to make for a narrower front end.

Yeah Daniel, 3/4 was the size I was told. I wasn't aware of that term back then, (Still never hear anyone use it.) but knew it was smaller than a stock body. Smaller in all dimensions including the width, height, & length. I didn't have my camera back then or I would have definitely taken a pic. There was a '74 Barracuda Funny Car at Raceway Park (New Jersey) in the early 90's running a Chebby motor. That car wasn't quite the same size as a regular Barracuda body either. Heard it's still around but not with a Chebby in it anymore.

The body I picked up was molded off a full size 68 charger. Sold it to a guy up in Washington State.

The Chi Town Hustler was a full plastic Charger-500 body.
What was the Mr.Norm's Charger-500 body then???

The Norm car was fiberglass as well.  There were a number of funny car teams that used that Charger 500 body, all were glass.

Lots of history on the Chi Town C-500 as a record breaking car, not so much on the Mr.Norm C-500 Spaulding car?

Norm did well with the car but his main income of course was selling cars and the FC was a promotional tool.  Other teams had to be more profitable.

That Yankee Peddler looks STUNNING!!!
Seems that 'Y-P' is a common name for Dragcars?
It has a much nicer side window set up than the other FC-500's I've seen.

In the UK it would be 'ENGLISH PEDLAR'... or something more offensive......

For me being a Londoner it would be COSTERMONGER, doesn't quite have the same ring?
