It's more likely that a Chivvy mechanic worked on it...   ;)

I'll bet a couple of those spark plug wires are Crispy!

The hole could have come after the fact.. Someone drilled out a hole somewhere down the life of the car and was clever enough to use a factory body plug to "close" it once not in use..... Position is such it would gain access to the interior compartment...

I'l have to look back at the photo's of the first 500 engine compartment, but I think the plug on that car is where the vacuum hoses leave the firewall. I could be wrong though.

Here it is.

I wonder how close the build date is between those two?
It's almost as if they started stamping out those holes for something, then changed their minds.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

69_500

I'll look at some photo's of the second batch of 500's I have on file. They were built on 9/05 so there might be some clues there.

69_500

Just looked at a photo of car 138602's engine compartment, no plug on it. Same for 133981.
Same for 138601.
Just a side note.

tan top

thats odd  Chrysler  stamped a hole there then , on that  C500     ,  if that plug  is original on that R/Tse , witch it looks to me like factory   thats 2  then .   i wonder about the 500 prototype witch was a converted 68 charger  , (  i thought i saved all of these pictures ) :rotz:

69_500

I'm not sure about pilot cars. But then again with a Charger being in the 142xxx range I wouldn't think it would be anything other than maybe a special order car. I'll look at the second 500 built here in a few weekends, and see how its firewall is.

Ghoste

I had some old pics of that prototype 500 but my underhood shots didn't have a good enough pic of that area.  It was in a couple of magazines many years ago (the old Moperformance was one) and I know I have them.  I'm trying to find them to see if they show it.
