Side question here, but Chris, what seems be the the earliest batch of Chargers for 69? I'm guessing it is august 1st right?
Danny ther earliest I have is the 100039 car which is 7/28/68

Next I have is 100893 which is 8/1/68

Is the 00039 the advertisement car? That car is here in the Houston area....... Supposedly the pre-production R4 R/T.....

Yeah Troy that is the R6 dark red R/T that ios reported to be the same car that Chrysler used in the 1969 ads.  It was for sale a while back for like 50k all disassembled.
I have some pics of her.

cool.... I've touched/seen her.. I'm supposed to help with the restoration. It's owned by a fellow Houston club member..........

Hold the phone!

Aussie, your 102493 was a "G" code St. Louis built car correct?   If so yours would be the first with this hole at the St. Louis plant

Man now there is a few questions arising in my mind. I thought that it was only the B plant cars that had the hole. Now someone threw a wrench in the works, and put a G car photo up with the hole too.

At that time how big of a time gap are we talking for B and G plant cars? I know later on the G plant was at like 286xxx while the B plant was in the 400xxx range. Were they a lot closer earlier in the year?

:o      so     a  69charger  from   ST Louis (G)  assembly plant has surfaced with  odd fire wall plug    this has confused things

Yes Danny in the beginning of production, both plants were neck & neck.

Around roughly October of '68 the "G" cars were about a month ahead of the "B" cars

By Nov 68 they were more than 2 months ahead...
By December 3 months......
By feb of 69 they were 4 months.....

Latest "G" plant car I have is 7/9/69 (307441)
Closest VIN # "B" plant car was buitl 2/28/69 (307895)

By the way I'm still digging through the many photo's I took at the Nats that year, to see where the photo of that cars VIN is. To give you a definate answer on the VIN and fender tag you questioned me about a few months back.

Brock Samson

see that on any nameplate other than a Charger?.

69_500

What the hole in the firewall? Or the duplicating VIN's?

I believe that someone posted a photo of a Superbee with the same hole.
