Info. To Prep. Roof Top, for Ledengrys vinyl top ?

My 69 charger is in body shop, I would like to know how my roof finish should prepped. body shop not installing. This
I'am taking  to a vinyl top install shop.I would be doing this my self . But lack of knowledge & A 100% disabled V.N.
vet. Any & all Info. will be greatfully helpfully & appreciated ! THANKS !!!

if they have finished the roof in solid top coat ( body color)  i have always  given the roof a quick flat  with 240 or 320 ( just like block sanding but with a courser grade & not buffing it) don't go mad & rub through ,  i have not had any problems .  call the vinyl guys & ask them how they want the top finished before they do their stuff . as they probably have their own preference .

Be sure to have the top painted so it is protected from any moisture that may get under the vinyl. Then scuff sand it a little so its not shiney. That should allow the glue to bond good.

I painted my roof, just giving it one coat of base & then one coat of clear so there was at least a little more protection than just primer alone. Before installing the top, I gave the roof a quick hand sanding with 220 dry grit so the glue had a little more to bite into. This also got rid of any dirt nibs in the paint.
