I have a correct VIN stamped on my A833 for my 1971 Charger(U code D21 A33, I have build sheet, built February 23) but also some other that doesn't make sense for me, according to the restaoration guide, the number on the PAD;
1A156888 (vin)
PP833 3113  132, how should i decode that?? if I understand the calender dates this should be 4th of Feb 1970, too early for 1971 model,
The PP (New Process) 833=trans. type. 3113= date? 132=132 trans built that date?

And what about the casting number C 99129 H, +( C99 589 G) can't find that in any reference either?

3113 is in fact the date of 2/4/1970...        keep in mind some transmissions were not rushed into cars and merely on the shelf for long periods of time...    2/4/1970 is the date the transmission case was assembled...            it is unlikely, but from what i understand...    is possible

casting # won`t tell you much , there are 3 tailhousing #s the early B body , the A body & the later b& E body

Okay!
I could go on living with my casting number mystery, but I still wonder how the assembly date of the transmission could be one year ahead of the production date of the car! :shruggy:

Any one have an idea of how & when this where stamped during the assembly process  ???

The raised casting numbers are of little use for ID purposes, the '71 VIN stamping and the '70 build date are the only important info. There have been other examples noted of lengthy periods between build and installation dates.

The build date and sequence numbers are stamped at the transmission plant, the partial VIN is stamped at the time the trans is mated to the engine for installation in a particular car. (note the difference in the size/style of the stampings)
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Great, thanks for clarifying John  :notworthy: now I have peace of mind.
