In the late 70's or possibly the early '80's I was returning from a trip to Pittsburg PA on a Sunday and drove thru Ripley and Westfield on Rts 5 & 20 in NY and passed a Dodge dealer with a beautiful Superbird outside. The dealer was Rankor or Dankner (can't remember) and I wrote down the name and continued on my drive home another 80 miles. I called the next day and the car was for sale. I drove back the next day and took it for a test drive, but we could not come to an agreement on price.
It was Alpine white with black top. It was a V code with 4-speed, 30K on od. Because the dealer had never sold it, I would have been the original owner. He had only used it for parades so the 6 pac was gone.
Oh, the asking price that was too much...........$3,000 (yeah 4 digits 1 comma)       :brickwall: :brickwall: :brickwall: :brickwall: :brickwall:

I've been to many cars shows and have never seen it again.
Have you seen my old '69 Charger??

I never got the VIN, but even though it was for sale, maybe the dealer kept it. It was a family dealership(2 brothers) Raynor,Ranker, Dankner. just can't remember after 25 years.

Here is the rest of the story.    The car went to Cleveland Ohio.

Photo from 1983.

At some point after 1983 it was sold off.   It surfaced again in 2002 but has not been heard from since.

I sold the current owner some parts for it in late 2007-2008 IIRC,...car is/was at that time,  in Palm Springs, California undergoing restoration, by it's new owner

I thought the Susan George connection was rather coincidental too!

Shout out to NascarXX29! Thanks for the info, Here's an UPDATE
To Make a long story short.. A friend of mine that lives in Detroit was on his way to visit me in Buffalo NY. He stopped in Cleveland to look at a GTX. That guy said his family had a bar in Buffalo and wondered if I've heard of it. Took me a few months to realize that the name on the bottom of the picture nascarXX29 sent to me is the same guy my friend stopped to see. Dave and I are now friends and he did follow the 'Bird after he sold it and I was able to meet the new owner at the Mopar Nats. The 'Bird is near completion (as of a year ago), He sent me some pics
