Looking good, but shouldn't the grille frame be black?

You mean the rad support?
If so, I'm thinking yes.
And the hood latch tray as well. :yesnod:

All the GM stuff in the background tells me they are not completely up to speed on doing a Mopar.

It could also be that they just haven't done that step yet but already planned on doing so.  Some of the other pictures posted from Joey's place are pretty impressive so I hope that they wouldn't have missed that step.

If that's F8 Green, wasn't that one of the colors where the assembly plant wasn't required to add the blackout treatment though?  I know I've seen F8 cars that do have the blackout treatment so I know it was done, but I seem to remember a short list of dark colors where it wasn't required.  I looked quickly through my stack of stuff this morning and couldn't lay my hands on the Chrysler engineering drawing that spells all that out, but I'm sure I have a copy of it somewhere.

Also --- IIRC, didn't they shoot that blackout treatment on the radiator yoke when the cars were about that stage on the assembly line or maybe later?  I had thought that all the front end components (fenders, grille supports, valance, etc.) were on the car when the body color was applied and further on down the line a worker shoved a paint gun up through the valance openings and shot the blackout on the yoke from the underneath side.

If that's the case, the only things on that car that wouldn't have been in place when the blackout was applied are the headlight brackets.  Those wouldn't interfere with the blackout painting process if they were getting ready to do it.

Never hurts to ask about details like that though - and that car is looking awesome!!!   :2thumbs:

I beleive it's F5 or F4.  F8 is much darker.  I was at Joeys a few months ago and it really looks nice.  I hear he's hiring too.  If I didn't already have a job, I would be applying.  Imagine getting paid to do stuff you love doing!!

I agree with you that from the pictures, it looks more like F5.  However, this was in a different thread:

'Joey' is Joey Steckler,
http://www.joeysplace.com

He is the owner and general manager of an award winning restoration shop located in Edmonton, Alberta Canada.
Many of the vehicles completed at his facility have been featured in numerous Mopar magazines, and won top honors at many Chrysler (and other) venues.

I've been informed the Hemi 500 is F8 in color, and after paint is complete, it will be handed over to Kori Alexander at Show and Go Resto for the final assembly and completion.

That's why I phrased things the way I did, since it looks more like F5 from the pictures to me as well.  Probably just the lighting or the camera settings.  They can do weird things with colors for sure...

Magnumcharger

I forwarded this thread onto Kori and he stated he'll be bringing up the subject of the hood latch tray with Joey, so rest assured it'll be rectified shortly.
As well, with Kori doing final assembly and detailing of the majority of Mopars leaving Joey's place, all of the essential details pertainent to the year, model, and assembly line are taken care of when it's in Kori's digs.
And with that being said, he informed me that he'll be the guy putting the non-reflective black paint on the radiator support.

Joey's place is definately one of the most impressive restoration shops I've had the pleasure of visiting. Unlike a lot of other facilities that specialize in certain brands of cars, Joey's Place performs restorations on practically every type of vehicle going.
And there is no way that ANY shop can know everything about every type of car. Which is why Joey is smart enough to hand off to a specialist like Kori....who does nothing but high-end Mopars.

And the awards won by this team are rapidly amassing.

I would say that the color of the car is F8 green, and that the variances in the color to what you'd expect to see are due to the lights and white balance setting on the camera. Just my opinion.

Car is looking great.

Carl B. dropped me a note to tell me that the car is definitely F8 Green, and it's the lighting (or camera settings) that makes it look differently.  I also dug around and found out a little more about the blackout treatment.

The following thread is the most informative that I found on the subject, and it includes some firsthand reports of cars that should NOT have received the blackout treatment but did anyway.

http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,22608.0.html

I still cannot find the '69 Engineering Drawing on this subject that I'm sure is buried somewhere in my stacks of stuff.  That thread did have a 1970 Engineering Drawing on the same topic, and it is pretty similar to the '69 from what I remember.  *EDIT* You can see that F8 (the EF9 reference is not correct) is listed as an exclusion, but I am fairly confident that a lot of the darker colored cars still got the blackout treatment even though it wasn't "required" according to the document below.  In other words, there are reasons to skip the blackout and reasons to put it on.  Some help I am, right?   :slap:

hemigeno

Correction to the above post:

There is a EF9 color called Dark Emerald Metallic, but it was a Plymouth-only color (not supposedly available on Dodge).  If the EF9 listing is not a typo, an EF8 car should have the blackout.

Sorry for the confusion...

nice 500 but  look at it  then look at this one   :scratchchin::popcrn::

UFO

OK what am I not seeing?  Other than the stripe on the blue car should have been installed a little higher. The "500" would look a lot better at the body line.

69_500

71GTX is that the same HEMI 500 that was in the Mopar Action magazine back in the early 90's? Just curious. Looks like it. If so isn't it also a factory F8 car, that is painted B7 blue?
