I made a request through Chrysler Historical to obtain 1968 Charger assembly line pictures.
Some of these shots were previously seen on a thread "Back in the day pictures".
I wanted better copies.
I recieved this today, inkjet prints of the original photos, which I'm certain are of a much better quality.
If you'd like the better images, I'm posting the request form along with these pictures I've scanned and retouched.
I'm sure most of you will find these scans to be more than adequate! :2thumbs:

Just to be clear, on those inkjets, did you pay for those, or are those the no charge photocopies they reference in the letter.

Did you have to give them negative numbers, or did you just make a general request?

These pictures were scanned from the inkjets, which were absolutely free.
To order them, you have to send them the print, or a copy thereof.
I know, it's strange....they should have a negative number.

Do you still go through Daimler? I noticed a Chrysler TV ad and it had no mention of Daimler, I think it was just Chrysler Corp.

At the time I applied, it was Daimler-Chrysler.
The letterhead on the response letter is still that as well.

I also recieved a brochure for the Walter P. Chrysler Museum as part of the package.

Way cool. :yesnod: I wonder if any of our member's cars are in those pics? :coolgleamA:

It's interesting in the first 3 pics that the left headlight door is closed. I wonder if that's so they can tell at a glance whether it's an R/T or not?

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Wow!

Those are amazing photos - my charger was built at Hamtramck - it is so great to actually see the exact line where it was born.
Amazing - thank you!!!!!

resq302

That is certainly some cool stuff.  I wonder if they have anything for 1969 like that?

I love how you can see the tape covering up the bumble bee stripes on the second car in the "charger line1" jpg - with its trunk lid up next to the guy walking - someone ordered an RT.....

To think that this was the American Auto Industry at its finest - really inspiring to catch such a "fly on the wall" glimpse of Hamtramck

Magnumcharger

I'm certain that there's photos existing in the Chrysler archive that would cover each year and model line.
I'm also certain that there's lots of shots of sales departments, storage lots, dealerships, design/prototype car pictures and raw artwork and photos for advertisements/promotional purposes.
All that needs to be done here is for an organized effort, where somebody can methodically extract these shots from the archive, scan them, and post the results for everybody's benefit!
Lets hope this will start the ball rolling!

No safety glasses was one of the first things I noticed! Times have certainly changed.

The bugle sounds the charge begins. But on this battlefield no one wins.

No assembly line images at all. So how about a few jumping Mopars and a trailer towing Chally as an intermission?
