Hello,

I was snooping around the net and ran into this thread and registered on the site right away. I am the owner of this Charger 500. Unfortunately I have not gained much more information since this thread took place several years ago. I have just been collecting parts for the car and have not even started the restoration. If any of you have any further info on my 500 I would be eternally grateful for it. Thanks, sorry it took me so long to find this site...

Welcome to the forum Mike!

Looking forward to seeing pictures of your C500 when you get a chance to post them.

The Aero Car forum has been picking up a lot of new members lately who own an aero car, especially Charger 500s!

I thought about looking for the Hemming's ad but wasn't sure how I could go about it. I know there are guys who save them all but I don't know any personally. Any and all info is welcome. I would love to meet some of you guys, Paul included. Maybe next summer when the shows start up again. As for Talladega, I might go in '09 but I won't have my 500 there I can guarantee that. Alas, here's some pics of the car. These are lousy but I actually do not have that many of the car as of yet...

If you know what year it was in Hemmings I might be able to find the add. I know that I have a ton of them from about 1986-1990. After that I have them pretty scarcely but not in an entire set. I never did subscribe to it but bought them pretty regularly. And then bought a group of them a few years back to fill in some missing gaps.

charger500440

Thank you guys. I don't know exactly when he got the car but I would guess it was between 1983 and 1986. Leaning more towards '85 or '86 as I remember it. I may still have my notes from my phone conversation with Hector but they are packed away. I moved a few years ago and I think they're still in a box in storage. I know Hector has a lot of respect for Paul, he called me right away after Paul spoke to him. I'm curious if they still are in touch...

Al still no luck on your broadcast sheet. Although I think that I have sheets to 3 B5 blue, with blue interior cars, but none of them are yours.

And Stuart sorry no luck on your car either. I do have some R4 red cars with black interior, but not the sheet that goes to yours either.

B5 blue with blue interior...WOW!! I would love to see some pictures of that.  :popcrn:

500Jon

Hi 500Clan.

I am an overseas 500 owner with a similar anomaly with the 500 register?

I beleive my F8 4-speed Dana car is the last 440 manual 500 built on December (C)19th.

Here lies the link, my 248662 vin does not appear on the register?

I have also had dealings with our illustrious leader Galen.

He holds rusty/wrecked/stripped cars in a dim light and told me my 500 was irrepairable.

I have worked in the motor trade for many years and was suprised to hear these comments?

The front end of my 500 is totally rust free, and only requires a passenger quarter and trunk floors!

I also own a 71Gtx, the only one in England that I saved from the scrappers, and I can assure everyone, that is a very rusty ex-canadian car!!!
But its very far from being bean cans or a Japanese shoebox car!!!
Everything is saveable methinks???

On a different note, back in 1989 I spoke to Galen's secretary from England with regards to purchasing a Daytona from him, which was one of three he had for sale at the time. Once he realised that I was a foreigner, he refused to either speak to me or sell me a Mopar of any sort.
I was very upset at the time, but since buying my dream car a C500 in 2004, the wounds have healed.

Best wishes to all aero warriors from England, 500Jon.
IF A JOB's WORTH DOING, ITS WORTH DOING WELL, RIP DAD.

Don't think this is the same car. The fender tag is intact on my car and according to the tag and build sheet it was always a 4spd D-60 car. I have owned this car since 11-25-02.
Thanks for your help.

500Jon, you tell a very similar tale to mine, as told at the beginning of this thread. I don't really care what Galen had to say, many ill-informed people have told me I'm crazy. I get where they are coming from. Doing something difficult and something many people could not do leads to this type of ignorance. What burns me is that he is put on a pedestal as having all this great knowledge when in fact the opposite is true. That's the real crime. He is the "expert" on wing and aero cars, yet I know the guy who he goes to when he does not know the answer to something "aero" related. It is laughable really. If it were left to him, many rare cars would be lost forever. It's really too bad, because the service he provides does have great value, if applied in a respectful and ethical manner...
