That car wasnt worth 350 k when the market was to the moon ! What do you guys Think ? Keep in mind the blue Daytona sold for I think less than that , and that was an super low mile unrestored car

69_500

Which blue Daytona are you talking about? The one with the vinyl top?

I think they were asking a bit more than that figure for Elmer's car, but I don't think he got it either, and it was by far a lower mileage car. Less than 400 miles I think total.

daytonalo

Vinyl top Daytona ??????????? B-5 , white tail

Or were you talking about the Bill Card Daytona? Because it was restored.

daytonalo

No cupcake , it was just for sale , I think never registered or some crap like that

69_500

 :icon_smile_wink:

The one and the same car as mentioned above then. Not the one in the photo, but the other one. I do believe that neither one of them was registered though, the one pictured, and Bill's car.

What pieces was your car missing Dave? Or what are the intending on replacing, that isn't in a repairable state of being?

I woild like to see the pictures of the smashed nosecone

nascarxx29

The original nose cone installed by creative and never removed or replaced. If they fix it put a section in etc? .Or replace it with a NOS one a quality metal repo one its their choice .You can still document it had its original.I know of alot of actual wingcars wearing fiberglass ones.Due to the originals were unprotected and very vulernable to damage never rust proofed it recieved thin overspray primer .Usually arent still around after 20+ years in any condition

Larry, what's worse is that you or I didn't end up with it.  :icon_smile_big:

You mean whats worse is that I didn't wind up with it.

daytonalo

The car was 5 min from house ! I would have never paid that much for it ! OK car , all orig , needed a total redo ! Couldn't see doing a 40 k resto when car is maybe worth 150 in this market !!

69_500

Thats the difference between you and me though. i would have paid that much for the car, and I don't care what it would be worth after restored. I honestly don't care if I can't sell my 500 for $50 in 20 years. I didn't buy it for an investment. I bought it because I LOVE THESE CARS. Not that I just like them for now, and in a few years will find something new to like, but that I'll still like the same cars in 50 years. I would have bought it, and let it be for many more years.

The nose was repaired, NOT replaced.  It took a lot of time but it turned out beautifully.  I have taken over 1500 pics of this car during the resto.  When I have a bit more time I will post a little story of the resto with detailed pics.  Every effort is being made to keep the car as original as possible.  This car was an awesome example of an original untouched wing car and Dave was great to deal with on the purchase.
