is this a FORGED crank ?????

is this crand FORGED or CAST in guessing from the reading that i have done its STEEL because of the wide " FLASH mark " but im no expert so im asking for you expert answer

Randy, that looks like a forged crank to me. I've seen knicks like that in the counterweights before....some were ok and on others the crack ran deep. If you plan on using this piece have it magnafluxed before spending any money on machining.  :Twocents:

RON thanks  :2thumbs: im not using it . it was magged and cut .010 under . i just wanted to be sure it was a forged crank . its for a 383 and from what i have read all 383 cranks prior to 1971 were forged .

Forged crank...    you can usually ID the difference with the parting line...    thick = forged...      thin = cast    :2thumbs:

Definitely forged.......easy way to tell is to run your hand over it:
Lots of blood= forged
Little or no blood=cast :eek2: :eek2: :eek2: :eek2: :eek2:
