How did it do in the SME judging? I didn't stick around for Sunday at the show, so I am not aware of exactly how well it did. I have a figure in my mind, but just curious as to what they thought of the car.

Just looked at the SME winners list on the Carlisle website, and Carl's car was given a score of 97.25.  Carl's car was in a three-way tie for third highest score, behind a 1972 Plymouth Scamp (97.5) and...

The best in this year's SME category was Ricky Greer's 1970 6-pack Challenger with a 97.75.

Carl's car was also chosen by Buddy Arrington as a celebrity pick which is just pretty cool.  Great car, and great job on the restoration!

:notworthy: :drool5:

Troy

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

XXHEMI

Thats great Carl the car looked awsome!

I wanted to enter the SME but I was scared. I hate when they tell me I did something wrong :RantExplode:??

Ed Cook

69_500

A very nice score for a very nicely done car.

Was nice to finally get the chance to look the car over in person Carl.

Gorgeous car. I just hope that when I get around to doing my car that I can get it close to being as nice as your's and Ed's cars.

Hi Charger.com and all.

Its been a while since I read this thread!
I bought an F8 500 from a good friend in California in 2004, and,
I am just starting the rebuild now, you know how time flies.
I will do my best to post as and when I do stuff.
Bought a real nice Rotisserie from the same guy and shipped that to England.
I also bought a date coded 68 for 69-car Hemi motor too, but,
The President of the MMA Uk was very upset with my idea to put da Hemi in there?
So looks like its gonna be factory F8 Green and the 440-4speed is the right thing to do.

Best wishes 500jon.

The right thing to do is build it the way you want!
Congrats on your purchase!

Hi Guys and Gals!

Thanx for the replies!
We have a thread going on the Uk MMA about Uk Wingcars.
I have never owned one myself, but did come very close to owning one.
Back in 1990 I was offered a Petty Blue Bird but missed out on the deal by 1/2 an hour DOH!
So in my disgust I phoned Galen to try and buy one of the three Daytona's he had for sale in the Exchange n Mart.
He refused to deal with me as I was a Limey and that was that!!!
I had to wait 15 years until I lucked into a 4-speed 500, my dream car), which in my opinion is rarer and 'less gaudy' than the big TWO!
I use those words carefully as they were said by the 'King' himself about his Corporation Blue Bird LOL!
I had the dubious honour of shipping the Petty-Bird back to California two years ago with a Hemi Daytona for company.

I still want a wingcar, so I have plans to make a clone, and as I have the 500, it will be a Bird!!!
Only one real Daytona left in the Uk now, at one time there were 10 Wingcars here.

Best wishes 500jon.

Hey Jon..
I believe that Hemi Daytona and Corporate Blue (real name for Petty Blue) Superbird were Pete Wiseman's? Maybe? If so, then I currently own the "Hemi" Daytona. It's an original 440 4.10 auto car. Pete put a 426 in it back when he owned it. Here are some pictures of the car I believe just after it arrived back here in the States over at Julius' place in California...  Maybe I should put a Hemi back in it?

Thanks to Steve for the head's up and Danny for the pictures....

Wow !!!  That's my car in England waiting to come home !!!!!   :2thumbs:  very cool Jon. I'm saving those pictures.. Too bad I wasn't over there now, would love to take it to the Brighton Time Trails. I stumbled upon it one weekend when I was in London for training with my civilian job. Both Pete and Julius are nice people. I've spoken/emailed both quite a few times since I acquired it. Julius wanted it back, but just couldn't see myself parting with it for the Hemi-cars he wanted to trade. Yes Jon, it is a small Mopar World and a even smaller Mopar-Aero world........ I'm glad to be part of it..   :icon_smile_big:

Steve, that looks like your C500 !!!

That's cool.. My friend Steve, WINGR, has one just like that, F8 green, green interior, 440 4-speed......

Man, these last two days I've hit the muther-load of past pictures of my C500 and now my Daytona..

What the story on why the fender scoops were off? Or do I dare ask?......

I look forward to the day when my '69 Charger 500 will look that clean too.........

Nice Fury......... That's a big garage compared to a typical European garage, which is pretty small............

Would be cool to get those plates again. The spoiler still has the holes waiting........ lol

Hi Troy,

Don't know the story on the Fender scoops?
We had a major disaster on the way to the Docks with the Daytona.
A fuel pipe came off the tank sender and filled the enclosed truck with 20 gallons of Gas!
It was lucky we had a stop near London and found the problem!
There must have been an inch of gas sloshing around on the truck bed.
I phoned my mate GtxJim in Sutton and he came over with some tools and we fixed the pipe.
Any sort of spark and we would have lost the car/truck and all!

I tried to sell the Fury a couple of years back fo £700($1000) and all I got was abuse and tyre kickers.
If you try and sell too cheap it attracts all the idiots of the World LOL!
It eventually went to a friend of mine as a parts car, and the Poly-motor is being stroked to 402 cubes with the help of Gary Pavlovich in California.
I fitted 4-bolt Mopar main-caps to strengthen the bottom end.

Man, talk about karma..... I have a small puddle under the car today. I think the sending unit lock-ring seal is leaking or the hose between the sending unit and fuel line is. Regardless, I have everything I need to fix it.. Guess I have yet another project to do to the car. Of course, we all love projects on our cars. I have a brand new fuel tank and new sending unit for it along with straps. I may just take out the one in the Daytona and use it in the 500. The 500 doesn't have a fuel tank, so it's perfect. Hopefully it's not the tank.
