Greetings all
I've sent out a couple of emails trying to find some info on a SBird I owned in the late 70's. I'm not looking to buy it back, cause I've already got more on my plate than I can afford. But I've always wondered what happened to it, and if it got restored. I'm guessing this one tidbit will make someone say "I know that car!" When I bought it, it was painted gold and was missing it's wing. Was a 440 4V console auto with black interior. I think it was originally blue. But it had both blue and RED paint in the trunk!

VIN is

Any help and pics would be appreciated. I'll also try to find a pic when I had it and post it
Thanks

:2thumbs: A, you beat me to it. I just rescanned that very pic and was about to post it. Do you have the other pics I have of that car as well, or just that one?

Ok. Here ya go. All I have of the gold Bird

Nekid_a12

Sorry bout the size. They looked fine when I scanned them.

Now, I had one gent email me about the car, but he had less info than what I remembered about it. SO.....can anyone out there provide the info I'm looking for?

Thanks

Oh yeah. For those wondering, I bought this car 1-2-79 off a tote the note lot in Dallas, and drove it home in the SNOW

69_500

In the Snow in Dallas? I guess you would remember the exact date then, as that doesn't happen all that often. What about 1 time a year?

Can't say I've ever seen that one before.

Nekid_a12

Yeah. We don't get much white stuff down here. I still have the paperwork from buying it, so I know the date, VIN, where I bought it, and what I paid.

I also remember it was one wild trip home. The headlights were WAAAAAY out of adjustment and seemed as if they were shining on the underside of every bridge I went under. Drove it home about 60 miles like that.

I was young and impetuous  :icon_smile_tongue:

As long as I'm tellin stories about this car....
I had one set of keys. SOMEHOW my wife (ex wife now) got an extra set made and would drive the Bird around while I was at work!!

Yeah. I was happy when I found out :flame:

Naaaa......Can't be. No pole  dent in the rear bumper :D

Could you tell if the wing holes on the quarter were filled or could of it possibly came without a wing??

Nekid_a12

They had been bondo'd up I guess when the car was painted gold. The mounts were still on the trunk floor, but the brackets, like the wing, were missing.

And yes, I'd like to have this car back. And the 69 runner vert 4 speed I had, and my 69 Super Bee, and the 68 Coronet R/T, and.......

it just isn't gonna happen

n9671x2

I was just curiuos on the wing, mine left the dealership floor without ever having the wing installed, quarters weren't drilled for it, but had trunk braces, just wondering if your old one could have been this way also.

Nekid_a12

Wish I knew then what I know now.

Right after I bought this car, a B5 one popped up about a mile from my house. It was from North Dakota, and all the leading edge paint had been blown off it. Had plain steel wheels cause the guy said the ralleys had been stolen. Really interesting thing about this one was it had white BENCH interior and column shift auto. Had 40,000 miles and was like new inside and under the hood.

It could have been bought but I thought "what do I need TWO of these for" :brickwall:

I bought the gold one for $850.00 including TT&L. The bench seat car coulda been mine for 2 grand :eek2:

I find that hard to believe. Can't imagine Creative Industries not finishing a car.I also doubt Chrysler would have accepted an unfinished car.

69_500

Although for the Superbirds they weren't done by Creative Industries. Only the parts were made by them, but was assembled by Chrysler. As far as them forgeting on their own to put the wing on, well thats doubtful, but then again they did some pretty odd ball stuff on the assembly lines anyways.

Magnumcharger

Just a thought:
Maybe they were shipped with the wings in the trunk, due to interference with the various levels on the transporter? Then dealer-installed?
Perhaps it was a lesson learned from shipping the Daytonas?
Does anybody have a picture of Superbirds actually being shipped from the manufacturer?
