I've heard over the years that they used a Daytona in the short lived television series " The Immortal ". After reading that the Sci Fi Channel
aired the show in recent years I was able to track down a copy of the whole season. This is the only shot of the car out of all of the episodes.

It's hard to see, but there's racing stickers all over the front fender. I wonder if this is the Big Willie car?

In the September 2002 edition of Mopar Collector's Guide Randy Holden said he talked to car customizer Dean Jeffries who worked on the car.
Holden said he would talk about it in an upcoming issue, but the article hasn't materialized yet...

I remember watching the Immortal when I was a kid. It was only on one season. There is no DVD available at Amazon. If you google and scroll down far enough, you can find "bootleg" copies of the series. Probably illegal, most likely not respecting copyrights.

I seriously wonder if the new " TV Guide " series of DVD's will eventually put the show on DVD. They just put "Banacheck" on DVD and it is great to see him pick-up all the women he does, and he drives his '42 Packard Darrin quite often. Banacheck was only a 2 season series.

A while ago I sent Doug a copy of a black and white studio publicity photo of Christopher George in front of a Daytona. There are no copyright logos on the picture. It says "Christopher George 1970" on the back. Over the years, I've seen a number of the studio publicity photos of Christopher George in front a Daytona. Some of the pictures are more detailed than others. The one I sent to Doug shows a Daytona with a Hemi logo on the passenger door, a chromed front grill, hubcaps (15" wheels?), a dark color interior, chrome wheelhousing trim, radio ariel, a white wing, and it looks like a darker color exterior paint. The other studio publicity photos I've seen of the car show a similar car.

I like the color picture in the post, it is a different car than the stills.

You know what that means, "HEMI"?  Sure, I knew you would! :yesnod:

So, who owns this now?  Obviously, it was originally a So-Cal car...

Maybe that was his personal car.

There are also some good pictures showing Christopher George and the drivers side of the Daytona that show up from time to time on the bay. I've always been curious over the years if somehow Christopher George had a Daytona, the names got mixed up and the longstanding rumour that Robert Goulet had a Daytona (but it doesn't seem he did), were really Christopher George having a Daytona.

nascarxx29

Along with the other clues as it be a Hemi as seen by wheel covers and door badges .I have seen other cars with chrome grilles.Maybe a exhibition car.It might have dark interior ? Black green. And seen in a old newslettter where a Hemi daytona George Barris was working on  and somehow got away. Will see if I can find that newsletter.I found the old post

I even dug up a 1975 newsletter thought you mightfind some of this stuff interesting from back in the day of 1975 .Where it mentions Robert Goulet had recieved a daytona. That was prepared by the Alexander brothers in Detroit michigan .And before it was delivered to him.The nose was leaded in.And special paint accented the car.Another celeb Mort Sahl Bob hope had one for promotional purposes.Raquel Welch wanted a daytona .But ended up with a Cuda convertible. Then a line down George Barris had a prototype daytona that was candy red.The car was destroyed on purpose. One while two of the mechanics were tuning a hemi daytona. The car somehow dragged them across the prep garage and out the wall. And all daytonas and superbirds were wrecked on the new car prep line when they came in.Chrysler replaced most of the noses with new ones.No bondo was allowed. The problem was the cars were to long on the conveyor line.At the end of the line when they got to the end.The conveyor would disconnect. And the car would stop and the next car would rear end the first. As reported by a chrysler quality control manager

Note the sheen of the paint on the Daytona, about what you'd expect coming out of Creative.

The pilot for the series debuted on television 9/30/1969 as a 'movie of the week'.  I don't know how long it takes to film and edit a made for TV movie, but I would guess that this air date means no Daytona in the pilot, unless it was a pre-production car.  What would you bet that the Daytona was brought in strictly for the publicity shots, and not used in the pilot or the series?  (and this was 1969-1970, why aren't the publicity shots in color?)

That's the guy who sold the car to Don.

Did Cuda Corey ever have the daytona in MN .Or was he just brokering a sale

I recently came into possesion of big willies daytona, it is untouched and remains in the same shape it was in when last sold. I'm putting the feelers out there to see if there is anyone interested in the car, it does in fact have the numbers matching motor and transmission, it is not as bad as it looks as far as rust I've seen way worse off cars but I'm not sure if that really matters unless your going to restore the car but then it looses all its patina. any questions please feel free to call 763-245-0134, not sure what its worth or what to sell it for i have picture of the car but it looks the same as it did 4 years ago

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi everyone, I'm the one that posted the big willie Daytona, I just want to set the record straight so there is no speculation but i have known don for a few years and have done a few restorations for him, he contacted me on a couple of cars he would like to sell and I told him I would see what i can do, he did not mention selling the big willie car at first it was a couple of other cars then at the last second he changed his mind on one of the cars and decided to sell the big willie coming to the conclusion that he did not have the time to have it restored, I have talked to him many times over the years trying to urge him to restore it but the big question was always how to do it , he kicked the idea around about doing it up like the king or queen daytona, I'm not sure myself the hard part about restoring a car like this is once its restored it will never be like it is now and it looses its history other than what it will be remembered as in old pictures of it.

I'm not a car broker, I'm your average mopar guy but i do sell cars here and there, I own a collision and restoration shop in a small town called Ogilvie about 1 1/2 hours north of minn/st.paul , i mostly do mopar restorations but do the occasional ford or Chevy, i have quite a few mopars myself plus about 150 parts cars. When the opportunity came up to buy these cars i got ahold of a investor buddy of mine and he bought the cars, hes not a car guy but he understands good investments when they come along and i did not want to see the car end up flipping around, I would really like some feedback on what should be done with the car , restore it or not and if it gets restored what condition or paint scheme it should go back to, i could not find many pictures of this car back in its glory days other that the on on the cover of mopar collectors guide in 91, i would really like the opportunity to restore the car if it is gonna happen or id like to see it in a serious collectors hands or museum.

The car retains allot of history, as soon as i got it back i sat in the car and looked around, the first thing i noticed is there is a small picture glued to the rear view mirror of some of big willies family , there is still some change in the ashtray of the car from the year 72 73, some pens, and some of those grocery store stamp like coupons in the glove box, they must of used it as a grocery getter sometimes. kinda corny but cool. if anyone has any question please feel free to get ahold of me.
