# 341 386549 # 409 379741 .The 1st one has a 8-29 ship date and the other has a 9-3 69 both car shown as Hutch Donaldson Inc Shreveport LA.The 741 car shows in old records owners from Elmer Duelman WI to NY.Still looking info on the 549 car.Its most likely the 379741.Elmer Duelman also if I recall  had a 500 mile daytona orig X9 car but originaly painted black .And this other car that appears in the picture to be black also.So being so few true X9 black daytonas..If its one of these 2.A certain black daytonas earlier life was a Pace car

Quote from the headline:  "The famed Dodge Charger pace car at the Louisiana State Fair Speedway. The last year that the speedway was a dirt surface was 1968. It was converted to asphalt in 1969. This pace car was one of the SUPER BIRDS made famous at Talladega Speedway in NASCAR racing. Rare photo of this car at Shreveport (Courtesy of Roxy Dancy, Jr.)"

Reporters...sheesh.  Car mags are getting just as bad.

Thanks for the link - I happen to live in Shreveport!

I barely remember that there was a track there at the fairgrounds.  This is part of why I am so interested - besides it's a conversation about a Daytona!
The dealership name is also buried in history.  My family left Sport in 71 (I was 7) & I didn't come back to live here until 99.  I do hope to hit up our local
historian about the dealership & maybe work the conversation over to the racetrack & Daytona though!

XX29L9B386547 and XX29L9B379741 its on the 2 we are still looking saw this

Just a couple of neat snapshots from the old Shreveport Louisiana speedway. The half mile track which dated back to the turn of the century
had just been paved for 1969. The Daytona pace car is a dark blue or black car and was provided by Hutton-Donaldson, a local (now defunct)
Dodge dealer in Shreveport. The photo is dated October 1969. The Daytona is either XX29L9B386549, or XX29L9B379741. Does anyone
out there own these cars?

Isn't 379741 listed as a Yellow car owned by Elmer Duellman (at one time, anyway)?

It makes me sick looking at the nose cone and the partial fenders of the Daytona. I hate seeing those cars like that.

Hello all, I just found this and I know this is an old post but thanks for the pic.  I'm the grandson of the Donaldson in Hutton-Donaldson.  JB Donaldson was a partner in the Hutton Donaldson store from the 60's to the late 70's in Shreveport.  Hutton still has a dealer presence in Memphis.  I found it interesting that the pic was dated the same month and year I was born.  That same Dodge franchise is still around I believe but has since moved elsewhere in the city possibly to 70th street or on Bert Coons if that helps any locals.

Dumbasses called it a Superbird...

It's an insult to call a Daytona a Superbird, but it's a compliment to call a Superbird a Daytona.
