Had a blast at the MMW show in St. Louis

We drove up on Thursday, met everyone at the hotel in Union, MO and attended the dinner at Rich and Judy's that evening. We enjoyed the dinner and the company. Was a blast to see that many wing cars sitting around in one yard. My wife loved it as well. It made her day.
We didn't go over for the luncheon on Friday. We decided to go over and get an early start on the swap meet instead. I need a lot of parts for current and future projects.

Sure looks like there was a record number of aero cars this year. We had sensory overload. I never did hear what the car count was. I met several people that I hadn't met before.

On the way home, I started thinking about all of the pics of details of the birds and daytonas that I didn't get.

I was surprised to see how many of the Fords attended. It just seemed natural for them to be there among the mopar wingcars.

We left the show around 3:30 today (Saturday) , just after the wing cars lined up for the parade around the track. Took seven hours to get home. We had a lot of fun, took a lot of pics and bought a lot of parts.

I'll post a few pics later.

Damn i wanted to go to this event, but i was needed at work for a project i'm responsible for... so, that takes precedence.
Looking forward to pictures..

See you at Talladega 2009...   :yesnod:

I wasn't planning on going to Talladega, but after this, I just might have to make that a priority trip. I just mapquested it and it's about 9 1/2 hours from here.
I think I'll spend a little more time and money on the daytona clone and drive it down. Maybe we can get a bunch of the cloners together for a special display. I certainly wouldn't mind having a seperate area for the clone cars.

Here's a few pics from the hotel and Rich and Judy's on Thursday evening and the others are from the show on Saturday. Quinton (66chargerkid) took a lot of nice pics and should be posting them Sunday night or maybe Monday.

I've been busy today installing and admiring the parts that I bought at the swap meet.

I know the car count was at at least 38 on Sat. and Gained another 1 or 2 on Sunday.

It was great to see everyone and glad that everyone had a great time.

Had to come back to work to get some rest.

I have lots of photos on the track but will probably not have time to post until later in the week

DSAC got the club participation award

There were several people & cars there that I had not seen before.

Had a blast too, and met several forum members in person for the first time.  With the ones that I met last year, that makes about a dozen so far... missed meeting a couple though.

It  was great talking to you Larry... look at the first picture, you had the tallest wing in the parking lot!

Picture 2 - The wings sure look great all in a row...

I will post more pictures over the next few days, kinda tired now and I need to unload my pickup...

Wow, I never noticed that before. Sandra will be so proud.
I was going to e-mail you this evening Allen and tell you that I enjoyed meeting you. I'll just say it here.
And, thanks to Sherri for all of her hard work. The name tags helped a lot.
It's so nice to meet the people that we talk to on the board. The wing car people are very nice and they all have great stories to tell.
We can't wait to get a real wing car and become official wingers, but we'll enjoy the cloner until then.

It rained on us half of the way home which made it even worse.

Anyone have videos that they plan to put on Youtube?

It was a great event.   Rich, Gene, Sherri and Brent did a wonderful job.    I haven't a final count, but it was close to 40 Aero Cars + or - a couple.

If you attended and did not get a dash plaque, let me know.  I handed out 49 of them.

The Aero Fords were well received at MMW and really complimented the display.

Larry,  Do you think we could get my car painted before talladaga?  It is a long shot. It may be possible for craig to drive his from oregon. He mentioned about stopping at my place to pic me up so If he gets me those parts or that is when I can get back to the USA and get started working on my car I may have a chance.

I originally had "buy or trade for"... I guess the edit did not help avoid the opening that I left...  :P  :scratchchin:

I have been mulling two possible scenarios...

1) Trading my 70 Hemi `Cuda for a nice turn-key original 440 Daytona (OK... I'd take a Hemi Daytona too  :icon_smile_wink:  :D )

2) Trading my 70 Challenger convertible for a NICE clone Daytona

O'course Superbirds & Charger 500s would be considered as well...  :scratchchin:  ...as long as the relative values were a good match.

I didn't try to get a ride for the parade laps because I want the first trip around a track to be in one of my cars. I figure that it will make it just that much more exciting.

I'm still waiting on a video or two, or three. I'm counting on the Sutton clan to pull through for us.

Randy Heide's 'Bird took first place in the Superbird class, but I don't remember who the other awards were given to.

I think it was Larry Peterson's WhiteTalladega that took first in their class but I might have that name wrong.  I'd recognize the gentleman again if I saw a pic.  Rick & Sherri Stanton took second.  Rick was a little confused with his award, since he thought the car was placed in the race car class rather than the Talladega class.  The show folks must have reclassified their car without telling them, but he was happy none-the-less.  The Stantons took home the long distance award, and Allen V. took the second-place trophy for distance travelled.

Dan Printz's Y2 Daytona took first place, and I believe the McCauleys took third with their F5 green unrestored car.  I do not remember the 2nd place award winner.

I think DSAC took the club participation trophy, but I couldn't hear the speaker very well when they were announcing that award.  I know they announced the club name, and I think Jerry N. picked up whatever trophy was awarded.

:2thumbs:

Mopurr

Yes as I posted yesterday, DSAC got club participation Jerry picked it up & then handed off to us, I have to get it sent off to Doug.

Larry Peterson would probably be correct for Talladega 1st.....if Jim Wells had made it on Sat. it would have been very interesting to see which one of them would have gotten first....I think they trade off at the ford shows all of the time.

After thinking about it, I believe DC.com's own Ken H. (moparnutty) may have taken second place in the Daytona & 500 class (they combined the two classes for the first time).
