I think Mercedes Benz Silver is the new black. That makes three of us on here that have used that color that I know of and Cody is planning on using it.

I agree, My aunt just bought a new Mercedes around a year ago with the same color. I love the way that silver glistens in the sun. I never thought to paint my car that color until I saw how beautiful Keepats 68 was.  I was going to leave it the original color, B7.

I hope this isn't a stupid question - I just finished spraying my first job myself.  I did the engine compartment, trunk inside and door jambs.

I did NOT mask these when I sprayed the rest of the car.  I thought I wouldn't need to and I didn't want a masking line.

Well, now I am spending a dozen hours sanding to get the shine back on!

I am curious if you guys would mask these areas before spraying the rest of the car and if so, is there concern about a masking line??

Concern for tapes lines, all a matter of opinion, some care, some do not, do you care? If so then paint these areas with the rest of exterior with the trunk & doors & hood removed. Tape off engine compartment at line where it meets Fender, ect. LEON.

A couple more pics... I have to dissasemble the front end next to repaint the K member and all front suspension. I forgot the Demon carb I bought won't work on my Edelbrock Performer intake, due to the EGR mount. Now I have to buy another intake....

Yeah, I did. I bought the Schumacher wiper pivot seal kit.... We'll see what happeneds when it rains.

Oh yeah, I'm getting there... I'm in the middle of finishing college and looking around for a new house.....Unfortunately, the Chargers taken a back seat for right now..... I haven't completed that much more on the car, I've intalled all the wiring and rear bumper, I just put the tail lights just to see what it looks like (I still have to buy the chrome surrounds for them). I'm getting ready to have the engine "broken in" at my engine builders shop. I just bought a CH4B Eddy intake on eBay, I sold my Demon carb and I deciding to buy either a Proform or Holley carb. I would like a stock looking engine bay, but have some aftermarket performance parts on the engine, like the intake, carb, MP aluminum water pump and electronic ignition...I'm still deciding to either going with HP manifolds or headers. Too bad you can't get the performace with HP manifolds as you can with quality built headers. Ah well, I'll take a few more pics very soon... Thanks for the interest!

Thanks, I'm looking into buying these Wheel Vintiques billet magnum wheels that are on one of our members Charger.  Below is Keepats 68 Charger, sweet ride, I painted my Charger the same Mercedes Benz color. Billet magnum rims will run around $3500 with tires, center caps, lugs and shipping. I really don't want to spend that cash right now. My only alternative would be to buy 15x8" Road wheels from Specialty Wheels. Those would cost around $1950 with Red-Line tires, trim rings, center caps, lugs, and shipping. Our moderator Chris has these, but a 15x7 on his sweet ride... I'm still undecided, I do favor the billet though.

Thank You!    The major factor for me is price. I'm fortunate to afford either ones, I'm still afraid of the current economy and whats to come... I prefer to buy the 18" Billet but I would still be happy with the 15's. And also save around $1500.

Those 18's do look pretty sharp and are the biggest wheel I would ever think of going. 

I've always liked the look of a decent amount of sidewall on a Charger though.

I am going to have a similar look to what Chris has but I think I will go with white letter tires instead of the redlines.

Any way you go though will look d@mn good

If it were mine I would go with the 15's but I have to admit that keepats car looks good.  Just my personal preference is for the other.

I am  restoring a 69 charger also. Am having trouble with alignment of the DS 1/4 panel to the lower corner and then to the rear valance. You had some great pics of your car and I can almost see this area but not quite. Any chance of a close-up pic of that lower corner taken from below the side marker? Or anyone else have a pic? 1st time to this site- it's great. Thanks-

Its been a LONG while since I posted progress pics of the Charger. I'm making great headway on finishing the restoration. I have found the best guy to finish the restoration for me. This guy is a walking Chrysler factory manual. He has restored show winning Mopars, and I was fortunate enough to find him. So, I thought I'd post a few pics of the most current progress. My car isn't a numbers matching trailer queen, I'm going to roll it till the wheels fall off. He just finishing off installing the tti exhaust (forgot to buy the tti tips), kickdown linkages, brake lines, everything in the engine bay. He has to re-do the fuel line, for some reason he had to use a 3/8 fuel line. I'm also thowing in a new aluminum radiator that hasn't come in yet. I started to have everything in the engine compartment to have a "stock" look, but the more I fiddle around with things the more it doesnt look "stock" LOL!

Thanks, but I give credit of my choice of the color to Keepat from his 68. The color is from a 2006 Mercedes, but I believe its the same color is used for a number of years. I actually just put the order in to tti for their "stock" clamp on exhaust tips. They look identical to stock, but they have a etched in "tti" logo.

When my '69 is finished our cars are going to look like twins....except mine's gonna have the '69 Z/28 chin spoiler
