Here is how it should have looked from Day 1.
Apparently, the ad guys at Champion didn't have a photo of the Engineering Daytona.
I've never owned anything but a MoPar. Can you say that?

Good thing Buddy was selected by Chrysler to drive the Engineering car and set a record, since
his regular #6 prepared by Owens could only muster a 198 and some  :Twocents:

(and that was in a draft)

Its a shame its so difficult to find good, color pictures of what many consider the most historically significant Daytona built.
When I die I want to go like my Grandfather did, quietly in his sleep.  Not screaming like the passengers in his car.

, shame there are no more pictures from way back floating about , considering  what that car  achieved ,  dare say if it was a chebby or a ford !!    it would of been  professionally  filmed  ,  books , features in magazines too this day & photos of every square inch of this car !

when the supercars book  first come out below  , bought one straight away & was in awe thinking this was the real car !! only to find out , from the awesome ! & knowledgeable wing car guys ,  ! on this site !  :2thumbs:   it was the #71 low speed  car I think  :scratchchin: ,

the only video i'm aware of is this one below , but its spoilt imo with the commentator  ,    real shame IMO  must be more  :scratchchin:

And you just know Chrysler must have shot loads of film on the car too.  Where are the negatives and prints?

About once a week, on some discussion board, or Facebook, the wrong ad gets posted about how "Baker broke the record in the #6".

Not only does the photo show the wrong car, but the photo is from the 1970 Daytona 500.

500Jon

Hi Aero's,

It didn't matter back then!
A least its a picture of a Daytona LoL!!!

5J

It sure matters NOW!!!

4-SPEED, 1969 Charger-500 is the most Coolio car in the World!

Ghoste

It matters in a different but related topic as to the actual history of a specific car and the impact that history may or may not have on its value.  :icon_smile_wink:

I just tried NGK for the first time and they have been fine but I used Champions for decades without a single problem.  I guess all the issues everyone else spoke to began to worry me.
