Just for the record, three out of the four bullet points in that old ad have now been proven false.      Not the last car retailed.   Not pulled for NASCAR.    Not a factory showcar.    It's a great car, but was owner personalized.

moparstuart

anyone else think the grain in the top looks wrong . I have seen several cars with 80's vintage replacment tops with that grain ?

I don't mean to rain on anyones parade.  It's a nice car, but I can't stomach that any of that stuff is factory sanctioned.   It sure looks like all day two modifications.  The wheel lip mouldings are aluminum and can be reworked by a good metal man to fit.   Overall, the car has that late 1970's feel to it.

Ghoste

Gary Rollins, now there's a name I haven't heard in a while.  Anyway, it is a unique Superbird jga262, have you had it for a long time now?

jga262

Good Morning Guys, and thanks again for the additional info.
1- Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to indicate that the factory built this car as it stands, I am sure they did not. Just trying to find out who and when.
2- After seeing Milts car that makes 2 with front wheel well molding. I have seen some hand made pieces, but when this car was built I don't think many outside shops had the capabilities to truly create factory appearing molding. Mine show no signs of body shop type work.
3- As for the top, as far back as I can research the top has never been changed. it shows signs of extreme wear and stretching.
4- I have had the car since 25 NOV 02.
5- Does anyone know how to contact Milt??
6- Here is anothe pic, not an aero but a HEMI Challanger, Dick Landy Super Stock Recreation

One more pick of the inside of the garage.
I will get an outside pic posted later

Without legitimate documentation just like the above mention 70 Daytona. It is speculation. These cars had so many modifications in their early days it is very hard to prove what is or isn't.These are almost 40yr old cars and I would bet 2/3 of the members on this forum are younger than that.Anyone can say the factory built if but few can actually prove it. :Twocents:

I definitely see the difference on the vinyl top grain.
My car has 28K original miles but since I have only owned it for 6 yrs only time will tell.
I agree with you about the age of most, I am 58 so I have been around a while and had an original 67 HEMI GTX in 69. I was the 2nd owner. Sorry I ever sold that one, won't make that mistake again.

We tend to be a little skeptical when a car surfaces that was unfamilar on the wingcar community radar
There was claims of a built Vit C Warners brothers edition superbird with white vinyl roof. The former V2 Gary Lazar hemi superbird conv.Rumored around as a one off Chrysler built.Just to name a few.  Your car could have been a factory employees personal car .That was outsourced to have those changes. And not a factory styling exercise.Anyway still a nice car.And lets see if Milt W has heard of it

That is a great looking 6 pack hood.

Redbird

Nice car.

I'll agree with Doug across the board on the items brought up.
There was a time, I believe in the late 70's early 80's where correct vinyl tops weren't available. The big discussion was if "Boar" or "Levant" (sic) graining was correct. Plenty of body  shops had the skill to put on a factory appearing vinyl roof, modify a hood, and modify wheel lip mouldings the day after the cars were bought in 1970 or 1971. My take is that if the factory put on modified wheel lip mouldings in the front for 1 car, they'd likely be 2 piece. Customizers had the luxury of time, the factory didn't. There were a really big variety of home modified hoods in the '70s. Some very good ones George Tamesi (sic) from NY, down to the auto part special with the $ 19 square 2 piece screwed into a hood with a hole cut into the hood special.

I saved a 70 R/T hood for my wife's bird clone.
At one point I had decided that I just couldn't cut up such a rare hood, but the wife says cut it.  :hack:

this car also had the r/t style scouped hood , for several years  sorry i couldnt  find a frontal view

Thats one Less retro superbird. This one will remain as its former day.Demon hood scoop custom interior removed vinyl top /paint job.A local area guy from my old neighborhood bought in Albany Ga in 1972 while in the navy.Still has it.He tells me there was a race team called the knight or night brothers from GA that raced superbirds. And his car came from them .With light fire damage to the vinyl roof.It was outside due to a light garage fire. And the car was sitting outside and he happened on to it.And got it and only had 5000 miles on it.I have to look in my archives but memories serves me its 179796   .
