Nice car.

I'll agree with Doug across the board on the items brought up.
There was a time, I believe in the late 70's early 80's where correct vinyl tops weren't available. The big discussion was if "Boar" or "Levant" (sic) graining was correct. Plenty of body  shops had the skill to put on a factory appearing vinyl roof, modify a hood, and modify wheel lip mouldings the day after the cars were bought in 1970 or 1971. My take is that if the factory put on modified wheel lip mouldings in the front for 1 car, they'd likely be 2 piece. Customizers had the luxury of time, the factory didn't. There were a really big variety of home modified hoods in the '70s. Some very good ones George Tamesi (sic) from NY, down to the auto part special with the $ 19 square 2 piece screwed into a hood with a hole cut into the hood special.

I found a 80-s vintage picture of a superbird I owned .And it had the 70 GTX/Sport Satelitte trim on the tail panel.Another retro detail power antenna angled behind the right wing uprights.Electric headlight switch in console next to antenna switch. Also notice the marker lights are in the grille.I got it as a driver with a 383 in it .And a extra non # rebuilt 440.I Was curious what became of it after the friends I sold it to many years later .And found it.It had got restored by Jarkey Sharkey Fl.Then it went to. Pete Mostoff.Who sold it Luke Smith Il.And from there RM23UOA166242 ??????

The wing cars almost didn't need any other customizing to draw attention at a 1970 auto show.  They were pretty much able to stand out just the way they were.  ;D

Hey XX29???? From your post above it looks like you used to own U0A166242 and have lost track of it. I have been trying to find out any info I can on U0A166241. Are you familiar with this car?

if that's true, and it's an automatic, my 166206 is missing his...

Nope it's an 18 spline hemi 4 speed box. Believed to have come out of Wisconsin or Minnesota at one time. I am beginning to think that the car must have been parted.
Who know's maybe it's tucked away somwhere. I bought the trans for my 70 Charger R/T and will likely use it for the car.

Here is Pete Veight's (Wingnut426) first Superbird that he purchased in 1979. In 1981 he modified an R/T hood to fit as you can see in the pic. When he sold the car he sold the R/T hood to Richard Dangler who installed it on an EV2 Orange Superbird. He is the first that I know of to do this and he is also the first to make a sunroof Superbird back in 1991 and back in 1981 he built a black 1970 Charger R/T convertible and in 1984 turned it into a Daytona convertible. I have pictures, just have to dig them out.

                                                           Thanks, Steve (68beepbeep)

Thanks, that EV2 Bird may be the one I got. Sure would like to know.
I got this reply from Milt : If a Chry Engineer had the car he could have had the electronic department instill the ignition. There was a lot of the parts and wiring around to charge the ignition. All of the things on your are ez add on's could have been done any time. All of the parts was around and ez to get.

Not much help and did not indicate that he knew the car.

Hey, could the electronic ignition be from a 1970 Dodge truck??

Late in the 1970 model year, electronic ignition was introduced on Dodge trucks...so maybe? :scratchchin:

It helps that this SuperBird was one of the last...so it might have been built when the electronic was introduced on the trucks!

Passenger cars didn't get it until well after January of '71.

Yeah I know. But that is not to say a engineer or somebody else had the know how to swapped it. :shruggy:
If it is true that it came factory with Electronic ignition, what else could it be? Those were the only models in '70 getting electronic. :2thumbs:
