McCloud is near Mount Shasta. No fluke there for snow!

1970 Coronet in Sebastopol, CA 1/14/23.

The Coronet has been in this same spot for at least the last 20 years, uncovered, half-covered, and fully tarped. Looks like it's parked in a location where it's wet most times of the year.

I talked to the owner about 10 years ago he's "going to restore it some day". Car is 318 auto, orange color (might be red).

Chris.....do you work for USPS, DHL, FedEx or some delivery company?

Hi Chris,                 29 January 2023

As soon as we saw the photo we knew it was a Valiant but not the year. It reminded me of a Valiant that came into our gas station around 1973. The owner wanted his brakes adjusted. Put it up on the rack, adjusted them. Put it down checked the brakes, the pedal went to the floor. Back up with the owner in it, had him pump the brakes. The drums were so thin that when the brakes were applied the drums visibly expanded.

This was in Cuyahoga Falls Ohio, a burb of Akron, an area of the country with the worst weather in the US. Average annual sunshine of sixty-seven days. So much salt is dumped on the roads that back in those days some cars rusted out in one year. Three years was about the best one could expect if the car was a daily driver. Don't go there looking for a nice old Mopar. We had ours there but they never came out until late spring early summer.

In 1979 we got out of there; haven't been back since 2010.

Thanks for the pics.

I now work for Caltrans as an encroachment inspector. (Used to work for a private company as a mechanical engineer that traveled to the SF Bay Area and Oregon a lot)

Plus I live in Redding and have family in the east bay and north bay

And my Fiancé and I enjoy doing road trips.

I tend to be out and about a lot and always have my eye out for old Mopars.  :coolgleamA:

It's a good thing the use of salt isn't as prevalent here on the west coast!
