More Of a Curiosity Question...

My bro is pretty hard on me for being into MoPars. He likes '90s Camaros. :rotz:
Anyway, he asks random questions about mopars everyday, and the recent one was "Whats the maximum horsepower one of those 440's can put out." :slap:

Since I don't know much about building engines, I didn't have a answer. He said that he could build a Camaro motor to beat anything, and I took that as a challenge. So, I am asking you guys. What is the maximum horsepower that a 440 can be built to do. All that has to be stock is the block starts out as a production 440, and it can be bored to anything. Stroker, Custom Heads, Cam, pretty much anything but Nitrous. :yesnod: Since this is just hypothetical, cost wouldn't matter.
So, anybody? :popcrn:

not an argument that your going to win. its like arguing politics or religion.    just show him this

71 roadrunner 452 e heads  11.35@119 mph owned sence 1984
72 panther pink satellite sebring plus 383 727
68 satellite 383 4 speed  13.80 @ 102 mph  my daily driver
69 superbee clone 440    daughters car
72 dodge dart swinger slant six

The right amount of money can make anything huge in the HP range.

A buddy is doing a blown 528 and adding N02 for a bit of flavoring...  The blower company says it can make 1200 HP before N02.  These are the same blowers putting these mustangs in the 7's...

The motor with the most money is the fastest, plain and simple.

But as noted above many race guys who drive fords and chevys
have a hemi based engine.

And if your on a budget I would say a 440 stroker would eat some
guys for lunch who think they have a fast car.

Oh and anybody who likes 90 camaros..........

YUCK!

;D :yesnod:

so blowers are alright, just no nitrous?

if you're talking about keeping them n/a then i agree with ghoste @ 1200......

but blown I would think you could get 2 or 3 thousand with deep enough pockets....

Remember the average response time to a 911 call is over 4 minutes.

The average response time of a 357 magnum is 1400 FPS.

i know not what the question was !! but  just look at the current  426 style  Nitro Hemi motor  ...who knows what Hp their  at ...  estimates these days with the current..... blowers / combination of parts , & % of nito  are 7000 hp ++  think the rule is still under 500ci also  in NHRA  series :yesnod:

:yesnod: ..yeah first time ...i experienced  T/F cars run ..wow .. the whole ground was shaking either that or my eyes were shaking in my head  that sound is unbelievable .... or like you say .when watching them warm up in the pits ...chest viberating  & your eyes streaming & nose stinging  ..because of the nitro fumes  :yesnod:  ... once it shuts of ...every thing seems so quite !!

i remember reading a good few years ago ..that  the blue  belly buttons & chebby teams ..were fed up of spending millions .on their racing efforts & still having to use what comes down to a Chrysler motor ..all be its Aluminum derivatives .... so had there Keith Black ..JP1 Chrysler HEMI motors cast ..with Ford  & chevy  on them ..so the fans  would see a  ford ..body funny car ..with what looked to be a ford motor ..to those who don't know  :yesnod:
& the same with Chebby

well, if a blown HEMI is allowed into the equation, you can go atleast as high as 5000 horses....and make sure he knows about EVERY team using KB HEMI's in their drag cars.....
