I have a chrome gas cap on my Dart and am looking to paint it body color. What is the best prep technique that will allow the paint to seat properly. I have access to a bead blaster if that will help. :icon_smile_big:
Thx

Not totally sure but I don't believe media will remove chrome. I think it has to be stripped through some reverse plating process but I've also heard of some people just sanding the chrome or using self-etching primer and then painting right over it.

Best way is sanding blasting, if the bead blaster will remove the chrome that will be fine. Chrome need to come off. Then primer to fill the pit's and paint.

I bead blaster the cap and was surprised it came off easily and left a smooth, paintable finish :yesnod:. I will paint this week. Thanks for the info.
