Just out of curiosity I've always wondered about this picture. Anyone know what became to this Daytona or anything about it?

Anyway a buddy of mine gave me that pic he took in around 1985, never did tell me where the car was :RantExplode:  He said he went back a few years ago and it was still in the same spot.
I love it F6, white stripe and interior :drool5:

Probably a good thing I abbreviated to Davtona instead of Daytona Dave then. As my first name is also Dave. Yes I agree with F-6 and white stripe is awesome. Definitely. No more updates on pictured car?

Davtona has a ring to it, you chose well - especially considering the glut of Dave's we apparently have around here...   :P

I can see why you'd like that car though.

(the other) Dave, was your friend afraid to mention where it was because he's still hoping to try and buy the car?  Just curious why he'd give you the picture without the location unless there was a reason.

What is that decklid with the luggage rack from?  It seems too short for a Charger decklid - unless someone was trying to fit a luggage rack to a fastback lid.

Davtona, thats cool. My buddy Scott wrote Daytona Dave as a joke. If I metion it to him he'd laugh for sure.

My buddy plays his cards pretty close to his vest. I think he would like to get the car but he really hasn't went after it so to speak. I am sure more people know about its location. I did see an updated pic a couple years ago...it was still in the same spot but the parts were gone.

That picture (or a similar one taken at that location) was posted on the old Moparts wing car photo thread several years ago.  Also, I believe a Superbird was stored on the other side of the wall behind the Daytona.  As I recall. 3-4 pictures of that location were posted...

Hey Beep Beep Dave, that is a really corny name by the way, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt as you seem like a bright enough fellow.  I was once in a chat room with Beep Beep Suzie, she was a hoot, but that is another story.  I know what you mean about friends keeping the info close to the chest, wouldn't want some Canadian to come down and steal our best cars, as has happened in the past.  I'll throw this one out for all you Sherlock Holmes types only because the luggage rack decklid has been reversed, so you can try and figure out if it goes on a Mercedes Benz or a Mopar.  Hints will come if no astute lad can pick up on it.  The car is pretty much toast, but if you want to see it , I live in NY and could take you there sometime, my only request is keep quiet on the ride and you have to buy highway tolls, dinner and a few cold ones.

Regards.

I don't live in NY, but I'd be up for a road trip. I mean NY can't be any further than where we are heading this weekend right Gene? How about another trip later on in the year?

I'm betting white interior. I think thats a white headrest I see.

Sure it's a white interior - It has a white wing, a rear whitewall tire and a white bird house (Code A974) on the wing.

Not sure But I think Barry from KY or Tennesee

That is Barry Beeler's real-deal Daytona, from Knoxville, Tennessee to be sure. Back in, 1988-89, I took a tour of his dad's barn and their Mopar filled pasture. From what I remember, I counted about 90 E-body parts cars, (Barry said 97), and their 3 Superbirds and this Daytona. And yes, it did at one time sit parked underneath a "collapsible-at-any-time" barn-like cover. Not sure if it still resides there, but I do remember feeling uncomfortable for it, reasoning that damage was going to befall it at anytime.

Is Barry related to Carroll Beeler who had the red white and blue custom Superbird now being restored?    Seems to me that Carroll was from the Knoxville area.

Is Barry related to Carroll Beeler who had the red white and blue custom Superbird now being restored?    Seems to me that Carroll was from the Knoxville area.

Doug,

That is Barry's dad, yes. And I remember that Bird you mention.

I'm begining to think that there are 2 green Daytona's sitting next to crappy barns. We can split them Stuart. That is if you beat Troy to one.

That has to be @ the Beelers. The car was identical to Mason Dixon's Daytona, and the E-body door/parts adorned his land.

Oh actually I love the Disco Daytona you bought. I was hoping to come up with a way to get in on that car when it was up for sale a few years back when you bought it. Just like usual though the pocket book doesn't have the funds my mind wishes it did.

Hey Justin,

I didn't take any pictures and regret not owning a camera at the time, however I'll call my friend Tom Knisley who knew/knows those Birds well. He tinkered on several Beeler cars over the years.

I believe the yellow car was a 383 car and the other two were 440, and one 440+6. I want to say at least one pistol grip four speed and the others were automatics.

All 3 Birds lived in the neighboring Beeler Barn, and I want to say their colors were, the Red,White, Blue one, a yellow or sublime one, and either an Orange one, or another blue one. I remember seeing red, but that color is on the one you have. But I'll double check with Tom or just ask him to call Barry and post on here.

Well, there is a thought, lol.  I said I lived in NY and we could take a drive to see it.  I never said I would stay within the state lines.  Quite a few people have known of this car for close to 20 yrs, would be nice if someone could restore it.  By the way, great Charger site to all you folks here with some great stories and info.  Oh, and Beep Beep Dave and myself go back, so any picking on the guys that have to live North of the US border is all in fun.

Thanks for the info Steve.  I'm always looking for any information or photos on the Beeler cars.  The Beeler Red/White/Blue 'Bird that I am restoring is the 440+6 car with a pistol grip 4spd.  I REALLY need to update the restoration post on this site.  Let me know what you find out.  Thanks

I'm going to say that the odds of that are slim to if at all. The barn with the Superbirds is Tom's, and I think that the only Daytona he has is a blue one. Now he does have a green 500 though.

CornDogsCharger

Oh LORD!!!!!! That is an swesome picture there!  Do you know when that picture was taken?  I would have to say that it isn't the same barn (surprised there is more than just one barn stashed with multiple wing cars).  The Beeler's only had two, at most, blue wing cars.  Still.... what an awesome photo!!

Is it just me, or does the blue bird look remarkably like the other bird, albeit a different angle? Perhaps Photoshopped? Maybe? Or maybe it's my covetous nature not wanting someone to have 4 wing cars. DANG!

hotrod98

At least they're protected from the elements a lot better than the four Superbirds sitting in the field in south Arkansas.

The above picture with the two blue superbirds is not a photoshop. My dad took the picture back in the early 80's. And I think that if you look close enough you'll see that there are 5 Superbirds in the photo, and if it was from another angle you'd have seen 2 more.

Someone else will have to chime in with the particulars. I don't know how many total he had at one time, but I know it was more than a handful of wing cars. Heck he had more Talladega's than one has fingers.
