Anyone remember seeing this early 3rd Gen wing car at the 1982 Chrysler Car Club Conference (later called Mopar Nationals) or at any other shows?

Wow, I sure don't and I was there.  With as few cars turned out back then you would think that one would have a hard time flying under the radar.

I have a closeup of the car, and will post it if/when I find it.  I believe the turnout was about 400 cars... massive for the time.  Being the first national meet that I attended, I took hundreds of pictures.  Glad to know that I am not the only forum member that goes that far back...

The car maybe rings a bell Allen. I'm thinking wooden wing? And no you're not the only one that goes that far back. I was there also. Definitely was a good time.   :2thumbs:

It does look like a wooden wing in the picture.  I also remember the body work being a bit wavy near the nose.  It was the most enjoyable national meet that I ever attended... at least that is how I recall it now!

Hey Allen, got any pictures of a R4 HEMI 500 with a black vinyl roof on it at that show? Reason I ask is because I know we were there in Dad's HEMI 500. Just me and him for that trip. slept in the 500 for the weekend.

I looked through the pictures that I have on hand and did not find your Dad's car.  I have given away about half of the pictures, including most taken at the track.  Most of the remaining pictures were taken at the Holiday Inn headquarters hotel, and I could not see your Dad's car in any of the pictures.  I saw Chesier's C500, Perkin's Daytona, and other Aero cars in some of the pictures.

I was there and I don't remember the car either. A friend of mine had a similar version in black at the proving grounds the year earlier but I don't think he took it to the show in St Louis the following year

Danny, I remember seeing the red 500 as well as the orange 71 Hemi Cuda used by Monogram, there was a white 500 with red interior, as well as Dave Jones hemi daytona (orange car )

A lot of really good cars

You are right Bill, the FC7 car in the background was Bob Buntin's car.  See picture below...

I was driving my brother's B5 Hemi GTX, and the pictures were taken by Ken B. who owns a B5 440-6 Superbird.  I drove the GTX up from San Antonio, Texas along with a friend Bob H. and his FE5 1970 Hemi `Cuda.  See pic...

Do you remember the GTX from the meet?

That Sassy Grass T/A looks like my old car - I sold it last year. DJ Strebler out of Sikeston, MO owned it then and I bought it from him in the 90's.

Allen,
At the time I had just bought my first 69 GTX ( first of 4 total  ) So I was drooling all over it when I seen it there. I have a pic around here somewhere.
I drove my 1970 Superbee to the show trveling with a friends purple aar cuda( same person who owns the project daytona mentioned in another thread )
My car was originally B5 blue  440+ 6 Blue bench seat int and was a retired former race car that had a fading multiple color paint job on the sides , but the top of the car was in primer. I drove it out there under it's own power with 4.56 gears from it's race car days. And I still have the ugly yellow shirt from the goody bag

Considering the low total numbers tournout of the show there were really a lot of great cars

Don't want to take the thread off topic but if any of you with the pics from St. Louis have any of a red 68 Road Runner from Ontario... hint, hint ;).
Back on topic, does anyone know if the person who had that 3rd gen took his inspiration from the same source as the Dayclona folks or if it was done without knowledge of the Chrysler work?

A red 68 RR from 1982 at St. Louis, I'll see if I can come up with anything. Not as many pictures of cars that weren't wing cars, but oddly enough there are still probably 5-600 from around that time frame. (1981-1986)

The black one posted belonged to a friend of mine. It was entirely homemade. and the nose was made from a mold pulled from another friends bird

It was a simple 318 with a homemade 6 pack, and a balsa wood wing

I remember driving behind him on the way to and from the 1st Chrysler car club convention in Chelsea Mi  and the wing would vibrate while going down the road, and we were all betting if it would make it back home in one piece
