1968/69/70 Charger Quarter Panel Lower Body Contour Line...

On the door of a Gen II Charger, the lower body contour line is fairly crisp.  From what I have seen, the body line on the quarter panel starts out to match, then starts to slowly soften as it heads back to the wheel opening.  From the wheel opening to the rear bumper recess, the body line appears to be even softer, having a noticeable radius to it.

Question for Gen II experts... am I right?

Yes IMHO you're right.  The lower QP bodyline is noticeably more crisp in front of the wheelwell than behind it.

----------------------------------------------

Another sticking point to watch for with bodylines is the front fender main line.  (Above the signal reflector and wheelwell on a '69.)  Everybody's been fixing dented corners on their 68/69 fenders for so long that it's hard to find an original to see how it's supposed to be.

That bodyline runs the length of most of the car, so you'd intuitively think it's supposed to be there at the very front corner of the car (above the front bumper) too.  But it's actually supposed to fade away to nothing as it moves forwards past the front wheelwell.  It's mostly gone by the time you're as far forwards as the '68 signal light spot.

Thanks for your input, and thanks for the heads-up on the fender body line!  My C500 is reaching a critical point now, and will soon be ready for painting... I need to find issues with body lines and other similar items now, before it is too late!

Other inputs on body lines or other like issues would be most appreciated!!!  :yesnod:

The lower body line actually starts to get more round even in the door. It just VERY gradually gets more and more rounded the further back it goes.............And also I agree totally with the front fender line fading out. That is one of my biggest pet peaves, when people make that line too sharp and run to the front edge of the fender.....Its just not right and it looks bad IMO.
68 Charger R/t white with black v/t and red tailstripe. 440 4 speed ,black interior
68 383 auto with a/c and power windows. Now 440 4 speed jj1 gold black interior .
My Charger is a hybrid car, it burns gas and rubber............
