Thanks for the reply and details. Do you have any pics? Also I didn't mention that mine is an automatic. Any issues with linkage clearance?
It looks like plenty of clearance for the linkage, but I have a 4-speed, so I can't say for certain.  I honestly think you'll be fine.  Either way, I'll get some pics tonight for you.

Hi Guys,

I just purchased my 1968 Charger, It has a stock 383. I am looking to add some low end power. I was reading the forum and decided I would purchased a Edelbrock rpm performer intake with a Holley 650 double pumper carb. I removed the old stock intake and realized that the Edelbrock wouldn't fit with the air condition brackets. I hate to loose the air condition but if it has to go, what can I do. I just know I will get more use and enjoyment with the air (my wife and kids) I didnt install the Holley, I kept the old Edelbrock carb on for now. Do they make an adapter for the air or a replacement bracket?

           Thanks Guys

Hi Mike,

Is the AC set up on the 69 different then the 68. Can you send me pictures of your set up. I would love to use this RPM manifold, I just dont want to cut the original bracket.

            Thanks again

Not sure if you've tried already, but I just tried a drop base on my AVS/RPM combo and it's a no-go.  The base was pushing on my fuel line..sheet.  I swapped back on my demon thinking I'd get a drop base for that this week but it runs like a$$ compared to my AVS. I heard one can get a fitting for the AVS fuel hookup that angles it down...hoping that will work.

Edlebrock carries a 90 degree banjo fitting the fits the AVS, AFB and thert carbs.

I know this is a VERY old topic, but it is exactly what I am trying to figure out

I have a 1969 Dodge Charger 440 and it has what looks to be an EDLEBROCK brand carb on a MOPAR brand high rise intake

The car came with the hood closed and normal looking stock air cleaner, the one that can take the orange tin plate "440 Magnum" on it

The car seemed to have a high idle and when I opened the air cleaner set up, there was no actual paper filter in it at all

I bought the part the auto store  and put it together, and it seems it's too tall and I can't close the hood

It seems like you guys solved this by

* a paper cleaner not as tall...but does this allow air to get around the filter?
OR
* A deeper or drop base bottom plate.....but how can you figure out what fits the rest of the stock top part of the cleaner?

Or do you have to do both?

Any body that has solved this issue, I appreciate the input.

You have the main points.

It is possible to get air filters of different (custom)  dimensions.

It is also possible to get a drop base that works with unsilenced (not dual snorkel) air cleaners.

There is a ford part number and think that might be mentioned in this thread.

It is also possible to have too small of an air cleaner that will restrict air flow.

If you go with an aftermarket drop base, there are a number of other options.

Some other points you may already know:  Make sure you to hood close tests with something like putty to make sure you have enough space to accommodate movement of the engine, especially if you have regular engine mounts and the one on the driver's side breaks.
Who in their right mind would say

"The science should not stand in the way of this."?

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

Looks like the part number for the Ford Proform assembly is 302-350.

I may have to go this route too, as I have very little clearance with a Torker intake and the factory unsilenced assembly. It seems to touch the hood on engine torque occasionally......

Only sucks to have to buy the whole assembly, just to get a 13" drop base with 5/8" drop. 13" is that rare I guess. But that may be the price to pay to have that pie tin look under the hood.

Thanks for the heads up. For posterity, if this thread is dug up again in 9 years, the Mancini part number was:  MRE28150
