I just left the subject line open because I'm sure I will come back to this post in the future :)  I am looking for the correct "440 Six Barrel" air cleaner decal.  Everyone seems to sell a decal with a red center instead of the correct orange color.  Does anyone reproduce it or will have have to go to a sign shop and have it made?

What about an original style dual point tan distributor cap?  When we bought the OEM style tan cap from Mopar, they said it was for all 440s..... apparently all except for the ones using a dual point dist.  Thanks for your help!

Justin,

Have you checked with David Patik at Performance Car Graphics and/or Dave Walden at ECS Automotive?  Both of those guys are as detail-oriented as they come.  Just ask them about the color of the center for their decal and they'll tell ya I'm sure.

As far as the distributor caps go, they do pop up fairly regularly on eBay.  Sometimes the asking price gets a little up there, but they are available.  I think the correct cap has "IBS 1003" stamped in the inside top of the cap, but that's going from memory (which can be a little suspect at times).  That shouldn't be a terribly difficult correct piece to come up with if you have a couple weeks to troll eBay.  Some of the usual suspects who sell NOS parts probably have them on the shelf too...  Tony's, Chet's, Brad's, Frank Mitchell, etc.

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

this seller has a couple listed, all the same pics so I don't know if years make a difference, etc.... (ie: the one he has listed  for a 62-65 looks exactly the same as the one he has listed for 70-72 cars, etc....)

I thought the first price was bad in my first post above.  This one is still with the original box.  This is Mitchell's as stated above.

Chet's and Tony's appear to have the black ones.

Go with the last listing on the reply above. I have bought parts from him (His name is Dirk). If he says his is the correct one - it is.

CornDogsCharger

We ordered the decal from ECS and Paddock.  Both were red in the center.  I will check with David Patik.  He has grown to know my boss over the full resto on the bird.  We'll give him a call on Monday.  Otherwise, I think we'll take one of the red-centered decals to a local sign shop and have one (or more) made.

Thanks fo your help!!

Let me have a good look at my original and I will compare it with one from both companies.

Yup - my original is close to the same orange as the lid color orange. I have some repop stickers somewhere - I'll check those.

starting in late 1965 - pt #2585000 and are tan cap for dual points - , prior year caps were black + pt# 1658534 . all had 'made in usa ' on the top .
I have a few NOS black ones here and several 2444507  nos single point caps , they  were blank on top originally , later 2444507 caps have rotation cast into the top of them , I have a few of these as well but are incorrect for anything prior to about 1979 ,give or take(BUT they will work for all but the most anal of restorations)
I have about a dozen of the blank top dual point caps left out of 50 purchased from the manufacturer after they were dis-continued
