I just got this magazine that has a lot of aero cars and stories in it .But this one sounded kind of odd .As its a Y2 daytona originally ordered to be a 426 Hemi. But instead came through with a Six Pack. And one of Two made. The only car I can think of it closely resembles .Is the Old James Outler XX29L9B355105 Y2 yellow dealer installed six pack Y2 daytona from Warner robbins Ga .That Gary Forbus of FL owned and was a feature car in older Muscle car review with Billy Schwindell petty blue superbird featured along with the Y2 daytona in comparision pictures.

Heres a direct quote from the article Another rarity is this yellow daytona one of two made.It was ordered as a Hemi but when the wrong engine was put in.Chrysler authorized the dealer to install a 440 six pack

Never knew about a Daytona being in Warner Robins, GA.  I used to live there and the only wing car I ever saw was a Superbird.  I live there from 91-96 and used to see the 'Bird going up and down the road.  I can't remember if it was a yellow or a green car.  He used to drive it all the time.  Anyways... 6pack Daytona.... Very interesting.  Never heard of such.  I don't guess the magazine happened to show any pictures of the engine did they?

Which magazine is the article in Dave? Just curious. I don't recognize the 500 that is sitting next to it either.

nascarxx29

Just got the magazine yesterday called 2009 mopar milestones presented by classic cars and parts its out of FL got aero cars in several pages thats why I picked it up .I seen they had Greg Rager and Jerry Heasley are in it doing stories .As there is no more musclecar review and mopar muscle magazine .Seems these guys from those old magazines .Found a new place. You might have a better chance finding it at a book store.

I think Weiman sold it to Sefton - I saw it at the Russo-Steele Arizona auction a few years back - cant remember if Bill W. was buying it or selling it.

The guy seems to have about 139 or so mopars.I wonder where the story originated from about yellow daytona being ordered as a 426 hemi. And Chrysler authorizing a 440-6 as a substitude :popcrn: :popcrn:

I drove that car once. It had very low miles. I remember the plastic was still on the seatbelts. Went to Talladega meet in 1988.

I know Bill personally... He owned Mr. Norm's Garage and  had the largest collection of Mr. Norms cars in the world.  I've driven and helped Bill in the past with some things.  Really nice guy./

When was the Daytona sold new?   Was that six pack put on at request of the new owner?  Pretty cool its on the warranty book documented, just curious how that exactly went down...  :popcrn:

69 DAYTONA

...the car was shipped 8-16-69

...sold 9-19-69

...original owner requested the SIX PACK be added

...hand written in the warranty book,  "ENGINE INTAKE SYSTEM MODIFIED THIS DELIVERY DATE TO MULTIPLE CARBURATION. FIELD WARRANTY IN EFFECT"...signed by the owner of the dealership...the car had 17 miles,

... it still has less than 10,000 miles

...another side note no one can prove or really cares about anymore, supposedly John Wayne was a friend of the original owner and rode in the car...no one is alive to vouch for the story

Bill Sefton bought my 70 6BBL GTX back in 02 or so, truly a gentleman.  He has and had some of the nicest Muscle Cars out there.

Thanks, I heard he may have sold it a little while ago.
Wish I knew since I went out a kinda replaced it last year.

GMP440

I remember this car when it was down in South Florida.  First saw it in 1988.  As was stated in a previous post it was owned by Gary Forbus.  He told me about the 440 6 pack being dealer installed.
He mentioned that the previous owner was a doctor.   At that time it a had a little over 6,000 miles on the odometer and all original, never been restored.
I remember the Daytona having a green interior not the black as listed in a previous post.  I could be wrong.  Gary was our newsletter editor for our club  Florida Mopar Connection.
Gary sold that car around 2000.
