:popcrn:    Forwarded from a buddy from St Paul FD

This was a car wreck we had yesterday around 7:00 pm. It was a 1969 GTO in what was probably very good restored condition. I would guess over $50,000.00 GONE!!!  He was not wearing a seat belt which probably saved his life. He was concious but not alert on our arrival, had open fractures to his legs and a pretty bad head laceration.

This was on Snelling Ave. right out by the fair grounds I guess. Wow!!

Sad to see one go even if it's not a Charger.  Lucky no one was hurt.

If he was wearing a seatbelt, he would have been pushed forward by the seat and strangled?   :scratchchin:
Glad he's alive, poor pontiac.

Wow! I hope he recovers. That sucks. Those are my favorite GTOs.

moparstuart

So whats the guess on how fast he was going ?   He had to be going at a high rate of speed .  :shruggy:

just goes to show you how UNSAFE these old cars can be... man, that thing just crumpled up...  :rotz:

Glad the guy made it.

Too bad for the Judge. This is unfortunately of fact of life...some will die on the road, some burn up in a garages, or any number of other ways. I do like the "At least it died with its boots on" analogy that someone mentioned in another post.

So whats the guess on how fast he was going ?   He had to be going at a high rate of speed .  :shruggy:

That is right at Snelling ave and Arlington ave, Snelling ave is 4 lanes and that section of road is between hwy 36 and a bridge over the train tracks, people are always speeding in that section either going to the bridge or comming off of it.  Speed limit there is 35mph, everyone goes 45...  :yesnod:  I'm sure he was going 55 at least.   :Twocents:

But, how did he end up on the wrong side of the road facing traffic?

Go Hogs Go

Now I understand why my Dad say's so many muscle cars got wrapped around telephone poles. Those old cars will literally wrap around a pole. I think I'll slow down to a crawl when I'm driving my Charger. These things wad up like tin cans. I think I'm definately going to look into a cage this winter.
Go Hogs!

Brock Samson

these telephone poles are killers,.. shouldn't they be weakened at the base so a car hitting them sheers them off?..
I'm thinking there should be a spec. that some poles "give" to allow a auto through... Just thinking aloud here...  :scratchchin:
