580 CHASSIS DYNO RESULTS

I chassis dynoed my 580" today. It's a 70 charger with a four speed,4.10 dana. On the engine dyno the motor made 847 hp and 756 ftlb torque.  My first pull it made 685 at the wheels.  That is a 19%drive train loss.  This was exactly how it came off the engine dyno so it is apples to apples.  There must have been something wrong with the O2 sensor at the engine dyno because the chassis dyno said I was rich.  I pulled out 2 jet sizes all the way around and picked up 22 rwhp for a total of 707 at the wheels.  It also picked up 40 ftlb of torque for a total at the wheels of 640 torque.  Based on the 19% rule that means my motor picked up at the flywheel to about 873hp.  This was with 440-3 intake and dominator.

I tried Mopar Performance 337 manifold next with a 1000 cfm AED double pumper.  It made 654 hp at the wheels and 597 ftlb torque.  I did not test the Indy dual plane but I would guess the 337 makes about 40 to 50 more hp.  What is nice with the 337 manifold, is it fits under the hood.  The jetting on this combo was rich also, I removed 2 numbers at all 4 corners and got the air fuel ratio right at 12.7 but picked up 0 hp.  Dyno guys suggested when that happens it means the manifold has peaked and doesn't flow anymore.

Very nice.  So... how long do you figure that four speed is gonna last? :D

till the tire shreds and rips the quarter panel out, but hell, you'll still have the rim so it will still spin :2thumbs: :2thumbs: :2thumbs:

Brian, thanks a bunch for sharing the results....that is awesome power for a street car !  ;)

The 337 seems to hold it's own but gives up some power to the 440-3 it appears....i'm sure on a combo like yours the Dominator and bigger manifold are the better choice for max power. I'd be interested to see how the drivability compares between those two induction packages. I'm thinking the 337/4150 carb would have better throttle response and cleaner idle. The smaller intake/smaller carb should have a stronger vacuum signal.

ron, the driveability is about the same for both set ups. the dominator setup just has alot more up top.both idle well and have very good throtle response.the dominator i use is an aed cnc,d pro street.it has been modified for the street with a power valve.it does very well, with no loading or plug fouling.i think on my combo, the 440-3 might be alittle small too.i think thats why the driveability is so good with it.

i think i gave up some power with the 4150 carb.it looks like you could modify the 337 to fit a 4500.that would close the gap on the power difference.

Piece o'cake oldschool.  Just pic up a no frills camcorder like I just did ($80ish) and create a youtube account..if you use gmail already it's even easier.

For the first few days I had to resist the urge to record/upload boring video's of me driving around.
