Here are a few pictures of the interior on the #71 K&K Charger in the 'Dega Museum.  You can clearly see the '66/67 dash that Doug mentions.  I didn't get any good shots of the passenger side rear floor section but you can see it in some of the pictures.  It appears that it does indeed have a raised section.  I think it is very interesting that the inner doors are intact oppose to the later cars with the gutted doors.

Seeing as this car has the regular Charger back window in it is that a short track car??

The fact that the Isaac short track car was restored as a '69 Charger does not mean it ever raced in that configuration.  I "dont think" Isaac ever raced it.   It is most likely an earlier car (66-7 Plymouth) that raced on a variety of tracks.    There is a photo existing of the interior showing no rear shock mounts inside the passenger compartment.   They were added later to make the car look more correct.

Gotcha, as the interior doesen't look anything like the 71 Daytona :popcrn:

I do see the early 66-67 year type dash .Also noticed for what its worth the 69 doors that have unique door lock locations as compared to 68s that are at the end of the door

I love the smell of nitro in the morning.

C5X DAYTONA

I think Bill uses the Charger for Yard Art...   Hay Bill.... Should I post some pictures of it in the weeds?
Caution.... Low flying aircraft.

Yes I is yard art at  the moment............ I do not have a place indoors at this time. Some of us are not lucky enough to live in the desert and not worry about weather.
Plus my pockets are shallow not as deep as CX5 Daytona's are.
I am working on a way to print money so I can start work. This is all I have  :Twocents:

Hey Bill, do you have any pictures of the car when you first found it?  I would love to see how it looked sitting for so many years.  Could you tell a little more about when you found it?  I just love to read stories on unique cars and how they were abandoned for many years... and then discovered.

WINGR

Hi Bill, just thought I would say Hey. How are things going, are you still gathering info. and parts?

WINGR/STEVE

C5X DAYTONA

Bill is using this car to stain the soil on his property..  :smilielol:     This Sunday when Bill is at Church some one go paint it for him..   Might need a leaf blower to clean it out..     :nana:
Caution.... Low flying aircraft.

I've never owned anything but a MoPar. Can you say that?

500Jon

Well bumped Greg!

This explains a lot more about why the front end is so crude now on the EBAY car!
Obviously modifided for the 70 front clip.
It's the retro fitting of a 68 body that suprises me though?
The original #48-Daytona body must have been too badly damaged.
So instead of fitting a 70 shell/body they went back to a 68 body??? :shruggy:
Much cheaper and readily available as they were cheap lol.... :smilielol:

Definite redneck workmanship here!
That rear bumper says it all!!! :slap:
Dirt racing regs must be quite slack or maybe they didn't know what a 71 Charger looked like, down in the Woods!

YeeHaa, should have at least gone Orange paint?
Now we know why there's no paint on the roof, they took the Flag off, not pc any more?

4-SPEED, 1969 Charger-500 is the most Coolio car in the World!

odcics2

See the early style steering linkage?   Used in 64-66.  The later style was devised for better toe in-out on the cars in the corner to get rid of bump steer.

I think it was a Hylton built car using '6x for a base chassis. It's a mismatch of parts. Part over the rear diff (with the 3 indentations) is late '68 for example.

The info that aero426 posted is good stuff - says Hylton built it.
I've never owned anything but a MoPar. Can you say that?

500Jon

Those guys were brave back then!
My 69 R/T Charger at 150mph was a nightmare!!!
I believe the 70 cars were better with the new K-member set-up and re-positioned anti-rollbar.
Obviously the front suspension was highly modified in the 500's and Daytona racecars.
Rear suspension fairly stock arrangement.

I still can't believe this is a factory built Daytona shell, modified by Mr.Hylton.
That front end looks precarious at best.
More like a 60's Drag car set-up?

Have you got any pictures of the #88 steering?
I would love to see how it was done on the Record Breaker!!!

What size Torsion Bars did they run?
Were there double shocks on the front too?
Those lower control arms look stockeroo!

Do you think without the factory backing and current 69 into 70 speed-equipment Mr.Hylton was never gonna be competitive?

Johnny

I thought the 70 swaybar position was a bit more compromised?  Doesn't it act on a shorter moment?
