5.7 is around 500 w/ acc's I was told. I read that the 6.1 is way heavier tho...

The trans for the 5.7 is a lot heavier than a 727 tho. I carried one about 20 feet which was a stupid idea. Id guess it to be around 250# or so

Ever read up on the GM/Rover based V8s?

(It started out as a short-lived Buick aluminum 215" V8 in the mid-1960s.  Eventually Rover bought the tooling from GM and ran with it for decades.)

Modern hopped-up versions:  around 280-300 cubic inches, about 320 pounds fully assembled.

Lots of cast iron 4-bangers are heavier than that.

while we're on the weight topic anyone know how much the viper motor gen 3 or 4 ways? and also the weight of its trans?

If a 426 Hemi is 765, cast iron everything, an "aluminum everything" should be somewhere just over 500 then? I mean with block, heads, intake and waterpump in aluminum!!  :shruggy:
Since we only live once, and all this is not just a dressed rehearsal, but the real thing............ Well, enjoy it!!!!

It sure is!! I am aiming for 50/50 front/rear weight!! I am not sure if i will get there, but i should be ending up pretty close.

50/50 would be great! im hopefully doing a viper motor swap in the near future and while im fabbing up the motor mounts im going to even out the weight as much as possible  :2thumbs:

Most Aluminum water blocks are 150lbs or less.  So that save a ton just the block alone.... I personally dont know on the heads but you will shave a ton off the nose.. LOVE TO SEE THAT MOTOR when your one, and MOST CERTAINLY want to HEAR A VIDEO CLIP of it   :2thumbs:

I am very much aware of the Rover V8.  My first car, which I still have, is a Triumph TR7 which has a 4 banger.  Triumph would take the exact same car put the Rover V8 in and call it a TR8.  When I restore the TR7 I might put a Rover V8 in but use the 4.6 later model instead of the 3.5

I have found that the 6.1L long block is just shy of 400lbs...     So I could believe a dressed 6.1 with accessories at ~500lbs...

As much as I have searched, I cannot find the weight of a 6.1. Allpar says 485 for a 5.7. I know I have book at home about performance of the modern hemi that said a 6.1 is something stupid like 700. I just cannot get an answer

I just wish we could get some kind of mopar smallblock V8 in all aluminum.

The gen-III hemi would be nice, or even just the old 360 LA engine block.
