Hi,

I recently when to the DMV to register my 69 charger 500 and asked who has owned my car before me and they couldn't tell me anything because I've owned it sense 1984 (back in the paper days). Well my title says I'm the third owner. It would be so cool to find the first owner and hear his story. Does auybody have any ideas for me?.

Thanks everybody,

I do have alot more pictures but they are to big for this forum. I have wrote a email to Jim Radke to see if he knew anybody that has owned this car before. It has been in Idaho sense the late 70's and has a hard life.

Well here is another picture of my car after I raced it one weekend. Most of the time it sits in the dark in my little garage, sure keeps the paint lasting longer. I think my car was only about ten years old before it ended up in a junk yard, must of had a tough life untill now.

Sorry I got nothing on that car. I looked in my little stash of papers and didn't come up with anything. Sorry took me so long to chime in on the thread but I have been down with a bad back the last 2 weeks hard to even get up off the floor. Slipped on ice at work, tore a muscle in my back and the opposite side of my spine the muscle has locked up pulling my spine into a curve and making it nearly impossible to sit in a chair.

Thanks 69_500,

Sorry to hear about your injury, thanks for looking in your records for me. I must have a mysterious charger 500,lol. I think first owner bought it new and then drove it ten years and put 96,000 miles on it and then wreck it blowing the motor. I wish I would of got more info on my car when I was younger and first bought the car.

Nice Car & Welcome

Why not start with the second owner?  He's your best lead on the first owner.   I bought my Charger in '84 too.   A couple of years ago I had a question about the car so I flipped open the phone book and there he (previous owner) was - same address.  If owner 2 was over 30 chances are, geographically,  he's pretty close to where he was in '84.

Owner 2 might tell you where the first owner was from or where the car spent it's time.  If you were to start asking around my county about a silver 69 charger in the 80's, you would find me.

It will really come down to how much time you want to spend on it.

Good Luck.

jeffs440

hi,
Well the second owner I'm not sure of because he was a young kid that had it 4 years and never register it and the guy that pulled it out of the junk yard before him I never got his name. The young kid I bought the car from is not in town anymore and who knows where he is. Sounds like I'm kinda at a dead end so far. O-well no biggy!. Its hard to believe people didn't take better care of there cars back then.

A picture of you and the 500 at Firebird Raceway outside Boise, Idaho, I grew up watching races there? How long have you owned the car for. I have seen that car and possibly talked to the previous owner. But It might have been you I talked to depends when you got the car!!

jeffs440

hi moparstuart,

Well I've had my c500 sense 1984 and when I bought it was green metal fake with gold wheels. I wreck it a few years later in a trailer park which then I decided to paint it black. After a few more years it went though all the colors of primers. By the late 90's I decided to take it down to bare metal and it had four paint jobs on it by then. Well it did have a build sheet but I lost it when I was a kid and really didn't know how rare this car is but found out later. I had it painted nicely in 2000 for $4300 plus sheet metal and glass. I really love the car and sometime I'll sell it but that will probably be very hard to do I think. I've owned it 26 years so far. New the car was red then orange, green, black.

Wow over TEN years between POSTS!

Loving the story so far Jeff.
I raced it, wrecked it, painted it four times and didn't know how rare she was... :smilielol:

I know America is a BIG place and the chances of C500's crossing paths would have been rare, BUT...
Nascar is a BIG thing over there and surely folks knew about 'factory homologation' cars? :shruggy:
Not extremely valuable 'back in the day' but still a 69 R/T Charger lol... :pity:

Even so, a lot of C500's have survived which is amazing and I just love a story about a Mopar coming back from the DEAD!!! :2guns: :drive:    :drive: :patriot:
