Not sure on this didnt find the magazine .I think D Delfino car was in a NY based magazine hot cars or musclecars. It was a Hemi 4 speed .Not exact what color it mentioned .But I think it said thought it sounds odd but purple was mentioned.

This one?
I think there's some editorial creativity in use.

Thats the Dick Landelfino car as stated in musclecars 83 with the white daytona mule car in same issue.I got that magazine somewhere. Thanks thats the one I recall word for word.Going by the wheel covers it reminds you of the Mike Russo car which was also from NY.It also states it was a plum crazy color when he found it on the lot.But the only plum crazy colred 69 Hemi 500 was Jerry Services if Im correct

A modified '68 body? A pre-production test mule?

I wonder if it survived or if Chrysler crushed it.

1969chargerrtse

I noticed a couple articles say along with the 500's receased back window, the spoiler is higher.  It is?  The trunk lip in the back is higher than a stock charger?
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

Yes, this is the one we usually refer to as the Jerry Service car as that is the name of the person who currently owns it.

There are a few cars of importance but the #88 car would be #1  then in no particular order 68 Charger 500 Jerry Service the old Mike Russo 500 Car from my area Propane X .
Propane X a red white stripe 69 charger 500 426 automatic car from NJ never registered with 12 miles on it XX29J9B110615 of SGT Deanna Broyles Wrightstown NJ .Last whereabouts CA .Then daytonas the first one was a factory clone as suspected of Dale Reeker car 287970.And then the last daytona with the 434 vin would be my picks :Twocents:
The Propane X (rated X) car is in Los Angeles.  It is a 4-speed car.   I had the trans for a while.  I got it from Gary Nicholes who was the original driver of the Propane X car.   He said they took the trans out the night they got the car and put an automatic in it..

Thats good to hear propane X is still alive .It used to be in NJ

Yea It was in NJ for many years.  It then went to Lake Elsinore CA for a while and now in the Hollywood area.  The guy said when he was sanding down the car for paint there was a naked lady on the door.. lol..   He didn't know the cars history AT ALL....  Sad.  Funny,  but he didn't seam to care much about that either.  He said he was a Chevy guy and just wanted a Hemi car and this one was cheep.  He paid 25g for it in the late 90s.  Last time I talked to him the car was beat up by vandals with a bat just after he had finished it...

I don't know where they get the idea that it was a purple car. The Jerry Service car isn't purple either. It was a dark maroon color and then later painted to be like R4 red with lots of chrome under the hood and then I believe he has taken it back to the maroon color once again.

I don't believe that the car in the article is the same one as the Mike Russo car because of the paperwork I have on when Mike Russo purchased the car. I have him listed as owning the car as far back as 1971. And he did not sell it before the article came out in the early 80's. And it has only changed hands 2 times since Mike owned it as far as I know.
From everything I have on these cars numbers 110610 through 110615 all are identical in options, colors, and interior, other than some being 4 speeds and some AT's. All had the recall wheels, and all had power windows, all had consoles and all had the cloth insert seats that I know of. So it could be any one of the other ones in that group and I have not ever heard of a 110616 but who says that it wasn't a C500 as well. I just know of 110610-615.

Hey Danny, I always thought the "Maroon" in 68 looked more Plum Crazy than the Grape color they called Plum Crazy in 1970 hehheh . Did Jerry restore his 500 to factory fresh as you think?   :2thumbs:

Still looking for May or June 1968 dealer bulletins / memos about the end of the 68 4spd HEMI Charger orders.....

The very same pics used in it are also used by Car Life mag.

4-Speed car.   I found the trans in Gary Nicholes land fill..   And it was registered till it was taken off the road and made into a race only car..  Gary used to drive it on the street.  He actually has a ton of pictures of it as a new car..    That car was striped and a million holes drilled into her to lighten her up..

The story here has to be about the 110610 car, as there is a letter from the magazine stating what happened to the car and how they repaired it and then it was sold in NY to Mike Russo.
