My buddy bought janaks for his real daytona he restored and sold about 5 years ago. He said janak is not his favortie person to deal with and that they did not have the correct contour for the fender anyway.  He figures for his current clone project , if he has to work them anyway he will save some and money.

I have a pair of ones by showcars. For my purpose they will be fine.
The mounting studs are moulded in but they're not symmetrical at all.

No...at least mine I got from him didn't....I also had to make attaching hardware inside mine..they were empty as well

Daytona R/T SE

My scoops I got from Janak fit my fenders fine, right out of the box.

The mounting holes were threaded for the hardware.

I just screwed some little studs I bought at the hardware store in there, and attached them to the fenders with some nuts....

hotrod98

I bought a set of Daytona fender scoops and a set of Superbird fender scoops from Mike at Dayclona. As far as I can see, his repro Superbird scoops look identical to my real Superbird scoops. Both Dayclona sets fit nice. The trick is to leave them in the molds for a few days after pouring them. That stabilizes them as they cure.

Coincidentally, I just painted the Daytona scoops this evening.

Howie has a set of Janek's and they look pretty good to me.

I believe they mean no attaching studs.

QuoteI believe they mean no attaching studs.

not just studs, nothing . you have to build the material up, then you can drill the new material and put the studs in . kinda like a 3 sided bowl with nothing it  :rotz:

Whoops its worse than I thought. :o

Dayclona's scoops have the bosses just like the originals. He provides stainless studs and washered nuts. I don't think his are much if any higher in price than the other guys.
Mike makes his parts in batches. It's the only way to be profitable. If you're needing everything at once, you're out of luck but if you're not in a big hurry and you want the best, his stuff is the way to go. I've bought many of his parts for both of my clones and personally, I wouldn't have a problem using his stuff on my real bird if I needed to. I don't think most people could ever tell the difference. His parts are that nice.
I'm not trying to convert everyone to Dayclona, it's just that I've been happy with every single part so far. I own some stuff from Janek, and some of it's pretty good stuff. I think he tends to take the fiberglass in lieu of steel parts too far some times.
Janek doesn't make many of the steel parts like Dayclona and in my opinion, with many of these parts, there's no substitute for steel.  :Twocents:

Dayclona's too expensive , i could have never afforded to build my daytona paying there prices.

I do have all the superbird pieces I make in steel but no Daytona and I am getting requests for steel parts for the 'tona so just trying to help fill the void. My all steel bird kit is $10k . I would like to offer a Tona kit at the same cost.
I can also custom hand build almost anything else in steel/ aluminum too from air cleaners to quarter panels etc... :2thumbs:

EDIT- you will notice that don has deleted his post directly above this one. It was the one I mention here....

don,

instead of posting something that does not apply to this situation, how about addressing the workmanship being questioned in the thread you have chosen to ignore? i hesitate to believe an open forum is the first place that particular buyer went to with their concerns, but something disturbing has come from it. no less than two other people reading this board have similar complaints about the quality of parts they have purchased from you.

other people are in the market for parts similar to those being discussed here. how you respond to, and deal with, customer complaints could dictate whether or not those parts come from you.

Yes Held

This manou  ' individual ' caculated his target audience on another forum, selectively posted pictures of certain parts only in a compromised position,  posted false statements, linked it here of course (malice), became emboldened and when questioned on his defamatory text and monetary demand blamed google translate as the culprit.

There are many other facts this manou individual will not reveal that would paint an entirely different picture...like the date and comparitive low cost items sold in CDN funds ..ie 1/3rd cost of similiar items.....return options... purchaser opted not to return...replace options skipped...assist options passed by - almost 2 years now. No good deed goes unpunished.

As stated above re: fender scoops move- let's see that happen...and almost 2 years later..am still trying to assist purchaser minus the manour.

held1823

far better response. as i mentioned in the other thread, i wondered what is not being told.

there are usually three sides to every story. the final one is what each of us here hopes to discover.

Are you shitting me... you started all this BS and now you're stating he actually offered to refund your buddies money once he had the parts back in his hands? Is that not standard return policy, no different that me not being happy with PG's dash pad.. returning it and praying they actually credit my VISA card. About to do the same with Legendary... just the way it works. If they gave you your money back first... you'd never return the parts!

that is not how you first presented this.

i totally get being PO with receiving junk parts, and your story might have helped potential buyers decide whether or not to order from him. it's a shame you tossed in misinformation and perhaps even half truths about communication between the buyer and seller, after the sale. for all we know, don could have been getting emails every five minutes, so not "responding to many" carries little weight. what DOES carry weight is seeing (A)  he offered to refund your friend, and (B) your friend refused said refund.
