Hi folks,

Here is the tag on a found C500 that has been derelict and hidden away since the 70's.

1. Please help me verify the decode below.
2. Why F8 F8 duplication?
3. It looks like the car had a vinyl top that was removed - any clues in the codes?

M21  M31  R21 V88 26
C55 G11  G31  G33  J25  L31

M21 Roof drip trough moldings-chrome
M31 Belt and hood moldings
R11 AM/FM radio
V88 Black 500 tail stripe
26 26" Radiator support

C55 Bucket Seats
G11 Tinted Glass
G31 RH (Passenger side) Rear View Mirror
G33  LH Remote control mirror
J25  3 Speed wipers
L31  Hood mounted turn signals

AF01 Light Package?
A11Charger 500/Daytona
A32 Super performance Axle package, includes 4:10 Dana
B41 Power front disk brakes
B51 Power brakes
C16 Console Shift

F8F8 Greeeeeen
C6X Black interior, vinyl bucket seats
X9 Black interior, Windshield pillars and upper door frame.
820 Build date

E86 440 375 hp
D32  727 trans

This car is complete, no real rust other than surface where some paint was sanded off. Dusty as heck!

Last Q: Is there a registry that this car might be in with previous owner info or does anyone have any info/knowledge of it? It has been hidden away for a very long time, so maybe it's faded from record. Car is in NW USA.

Thanks!

Yep TT is right - F8  F8   Roof and Body same color - F8 Green - not two-tone.

Sounds like a nice find!

PM Danny and see if he knows about it.

Thanks!

One of the aero car clubs or Danny Liebrandt / 69_500  may have information - but if it's been off the radar screen for that long it could be "new" to all of them.  In order to check it out, they would need the full VIN.

Thanks for posting the information!

:iagree:

Although, Hamtramck seemed to print the body color twice regardless of whether that particular car was coded for a vinyl top or not.  The St. Louis assembly plant, on the other hand, usually left off the first color code (roof color) if it was a V-top car.  Either way, there were 1969 models which could be ordered with a roof color paint different from the body color - and that's one of the places that distinction would be made.  Chargers were all mono/single-tone paint jobs in '69, so it's a moot point on their tags.

69_500

Well without the last 3 of the VIN its hard to tell if I have heard of the car before or not. Narrowing it down from the list of VIN's I have in front of me there are 16 that I know of that start 217xxx, and of those 3 are F8 cars so its possible. PM me if you want

Thanks guys. I've known about this car for awhile and it's likley coming up for sale due to distress between parties to settle debt. For this reason I need to be a little discreet for the time being. I do have pics and will follow up with that, a photo of the tag and full vin later once sale is either completed or falls through. Again - thanks a bunch for the replies - I knew this was the place to ask.

Nice find, Smokey!   :2thumbs: Can't wait to see some pictures. By the way, all 500 have the V88 stripe delete code, since the stripe was added after the conversion. Also, it could have had a dealer installed vinyl top, there are of few of those around. Good luck.

This is all I can share for now until title status is known and things shake out. I promise to get back in the future with full pics whether this works out or not.

Thanks again, guys.
