Hi Tony,

There is a lot of different paperwork that references some aspect of Daytona conversion - but whether there is one that summarizes the whole process, I dunno.  Which A12 document are you looking at?  If it's multiple pages, can you post an example?

Anything like these .Or something that says they took or trucked production 69 RT for conversion and how many were built in a day.Beep Beep Dave Is a big M Code car fan heres his website he might also have the same bulletin for the lift off hood cars     http://sixpacksixbbl.homestead.com/. TONY

hi

thanks again for the offer to send me the info.

i was able to copy the 3 pages posted in reference to the build procedures and inspection, so im set on those.

is there any other factory documents in reference to the daytonas that someone can post?  if so i can copy them and save them, so i dont need a hard copy mailed to me

big question,

#12 states to prep the surfaces and paint.

#17 states to install the fenders and hood

there is no further mention of painting, which would lead someone to believe that the front ends were painted prior to installation on the car.

but from looking at some original cars its appeared that they were painted once assembled.
ive seen overspray under the hood on the inner fenderwells, on the rubber strip between the fenders and nose, etc etc.

so are the instructions wrong and the cars were converted differently?

just trying to learn

thanks in advance for the help
tony

Hey Tony - They were definitely painted after the conversion.

Half of the car was hit with lacquer after.
Check out these pics of some in various stages of completion.

Check out the one with primer around the window plug, no wing or fenders converted yet.

There are tell tale signs when you see various original daytonas .Overspray on washer jar headlight trim rings etc etc.Survivor cars are the ones to study also I highly recommend Dave Patik at performance car graphics who for years documented details on daytona and aero cars etc etc from 70s-to current also he has a restoration manual with pictures etc. Also he wrote a judging manual in 92 for criteria for judges to follow on details .I dont know if its been revised or updated currently? Then theres stuff like this Creative Industries quality control paper. That as I say random workmanship. Each car is unique and its individual details #car 149 is shown with no air foil air scoops finish needing rub out .Over spray on seals and hood and on glass etc etc
