This is a story recounted to me by the guy who saw the car back  20 yrs ago who is a well know  indiv in certain mopar circles. So I know the story is not just that a story, but an interesting car he saw and the story.

A butcher in a small town outside of Ann Arbor had a black bird that was alleged to have come from the mothership that way. It was an EV2 car that became a black car but the color conversion was done on the "desoto line".  It is further alleged that the build sheet of the car reflects the color change indicating the "desoto line".  Peeling black paint on the firewall revealed orange underneath.

This is what was told to me so now you all may have at it  :scratchchin:

It sounds more like the Butcher of Chelsea MI (not far from Ann Arbor) with a black Hemi Daytona that was repainted new at the dealership because the Creative job was so bad.

Must have only come out on full moon nights, I ran those roads from 1977 to 1992 and never saw it.

Sounds like the Fred McNally Bird that was repainted black - originally orange - He is in the U.P. though.

Nor was Fred a butcher.   It really sounds like multiple stories getting mixed up.     It's pretty well known that Jerry is the butcher with a bunch of aero cars.  Chelsea is only 15 miles from Ann Arbor.
