No real tricks here,
just a pretty standard 500" Brackets Non-Roller Type Combo, that I feel pretty much ANYBODY or SHOP should be able to repeat pretty easily, so a good fit here in this Forum.
(We do a "pump Gas" 10.8:1 version of this @ 676HP/652Trq., albeit, with Much More Effort & Costs, so NOT a good fit here)

The only "Modifications" are some Hand Porting/Re-Working of the INDY EZ-1 Heads in the Bowls, and some Chamber Re-Contouring(not Req'd)

The "Tried & Proven" Comp Cams XS290S Cam was used "Out of the Box", in keeping with the Idea for a "repeatable" Lower Cost/Low Maintenance type build.

Basics;
1978 440 Block @ 4.375 Bore/Main Studs
Eagle 4.15 Stroke Crank
Eagle 6.76 Rods
Wiseco F/Top Pistons & File-Fit Rings
1/2" Oiling Block Mod
7Qt Pan & Pickup
INDY EZ-1 Heads 270cc
440-2 Intake "UNTOUCHED"
850 cfm BG Carb
Comp Cams XS290S Solid Flat Tappet & Lifters
252/260 @ .050
Lift .540" Intake & .558" Exhaust
110 Centreline
1.5 Ratio Rockers
Cometic Head Gaskets @ .060"

We like the INDY EZ Heads, but unfortunately, we seem to encounter some inconsistencies with quality with the Valve grinds and Guides as delivered,
so,
we usually rework them in those areas to what we like ?

This is NOT a knock on INDY, so much as just personal preferences, which your Shop May or MayNot be happy as well ?

The Heads have our Stage 1 Porting, which is really just a cleanup & blending of the CNC'd INDY Program as delivered, Competition Valve Seat Grind, and a Chamber re-contour(Size)

With the "Small" Flat Tappet Cam, we kept the Compression Ratio down to 11.7:1, tested with C12, but the Customer will probably "Mix" Fuels in Service to save Money.

Quick Fast no-Brainer @ 664Hp & 644 Trq with the 850 carb & Untouched 440-2 Intake.
"ALL IN" by 6,000 rpm
Trq only changes 65ft/lbs between 4,000 to 6,000 RPM

Nice work Bob  :2thumbs:

That's a great build with lots of low end grunt and descent top end pull. The 290 solid must sound pretty mellow with 11.7:1 and 500 inches  :icon_smile_cool:

Hi Ron
Yeah, it's sounds small to me, but hey, he likes it, so .....

I think this one is VERY repeatable for Anybody with a set of wrenchs, so good fit here ?
We really didn't do anything, other than the Head Cleaning, Valvetrain Geometry, & some Machining Freshening, they were his parts.

I woulda been nice to play with it on Intakes/Carbs/Spacers, etc., etc., but no time or budget.
