Does anyone know of this Superbird found in Belleville Michigan?? Barn find

Hey my name is Larry Jr. and I'm new here. We bought a yellow Superbird out of Belleville Michigan off of Ray Newsome. The VIN is RM23UOA164642. According to the story we are the 5th owner.  The 1st owner had it for about 5 years.  The 2nd took it all apart and wanted to turn it into a NASCAR but never got started on the project so it was stored in a building in pieces for approximately 10 years. 3rd owner bought it to restore it but never got the funds to do so and it sat in his garage in pieces for about 10 more years. Ray the 4th owner bought it and painted it white and didn't like it then painted it yellow and put a 426 in it and had it for about 12 years. In that time he took it to many shows. I was told the car never left Michigan. We are the 5th owners and purchased the car in September of 06 and would like to some day God willing restore it, due to its unique storage there is NO rust on the car. Originally it is EB5 Blue Fire Metallic 440 4bl 4speed. I don't believe the car was ever on the road when it was white.  If anyone has seen it within the last 12 or so years prior to 2006 it would have been yellow and had a 426 with chrome valve covers with correct Hemi brake booster bracket and correct exhaust manifolds; looks stock other than valve covers. It was kept in a barn in a backyard of many acres and never saw the rain or winter roads; it came out to play during the summer. If you can be of any help on ANYTHING about this car as far as what production # it is, a build sheet the #'s motor and I would LOVE to get some pictures of it in its original blue paint or anything else you would really be a blessing to a young kid and his father. Thanks for taking your time to read this and God bless.

Larry Jr.

Here are some pictures of it you may recognise..

Welcome to the board Larry. Sorry I can't be of any help, but the car looks great! And a 4-speed too!  :2thumbs: Would look great in B5, but nothing wrong with yellow either.  :drool5:

Larry,

I grew up in Belleville, and lived there most of my life. I never saw that car, driving or at the local shows.  :shruggy:

I've heard of Ray but don't know him. Sorry, no help at all.

<edit>

I guess I should add that I was only there since '93 from 2000-05.

I took a look at the DSAC club registry and the first note about the car is when Ray registered it in 2001, so I don't have any pics of it in blue.   Looks like a great find.

WINGR

Belleville is about 15-20 minutes from me but I don't remember seeing one with a Hemi in it. Sorry I'm not much help, if I run accross any info. I'll let you know.

WINGR

I'm from Charlotte, MI and have been going to shows since 2000 (although, not that many, and only a few down that way).  I don't recall the car either.  I think I would remember a Hemi Bird, especially with a replaced engine.  But who knows, I don't remember much these days.

Did it go to the show (DSAC I think) in 2001/2002 at the Chrysler museum in Auburn Hills?  Anyone recall it there?  That brought in a ton of wing cars.  Sorry, again, I don't remember it there.

Hey there I dont know what I am doing I guess I respond here haha I hit quote.. You guys let me know if Im wrong... Anyways Im not sure it really ever went far Ray told me the car went to the burger joint kinda car shows however it did win trophies.. I really dont know if it ever went to a real Mopar show. This car is kinda a 8th world wonder. It was indoors too long and in pieces at that. It would be nice if the original owner saw it and somehow would recognise the story or even the 2nd or 3rd owners but thats far fetched I think. Thanks for the help and complements guys!! I will gladly throw some money in anyones way that takes time and finds some history, paperwork or PHOTOS and so on of this car. God bless you guys and thanks for all your help and interest!!

Sean told me you are the man when it comes to info on this kind of thing haha. I was really bummed that you had nothing on this car but I would like to thank you very much for taking the time to look for me. Do you have any ideas on where I should go next? I know this sounds silly but more than even the build sheet I would like to find pictures of it back in the day of when it was blue, weather it be together or in pieces.. I guess one of the prior owners would have to find this thing on the sight to get that lucky?? Ray claims not to have any blue pictures even though he got it in pieces when it was blue.. I find that strange, I take tons of pictures when I do a car, but I know not everyone is like that..  I havent called Galen Govier yet, Im thinken he may be able to help... Do you know of any other routs to try? Thank you soo much.

Wow! Shot that down like a bucket of lead hahaha! Better to know than to wonder right? So That websight is not working or at least the VIN section of it. I did find that this is car is #!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!470!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but I found that in paperwork I already had haha. That may help the search though. I have contacted David Patic Gaylen & Dianne and email  a few others. Everyone has the car before me and the car after me :brickwall: I was told that the next step may be to talk with Suegeorge and get this in the club mailer. Im still hot on this one, there has to be someone out there with some info and when I get it Ill post it! ;)

No this a different vin and a known car that lived near me.Your is probably long off the radar screen to the clubs as the vin 641 is showing a Mi car nothing on 642 .And something on 643 is recorded. But 642 doesnt show up as far back as club 79 records

So I cut these off the Bird not long ago. These are exactally like I cut the off. This was hands down the loudest back fire I have ever heard. I wasnt even sure a car could make this much noise. And to make things worse I was under a loft indoors! When they went bang it looked like a coal mine shaft fell in it was soo black with dust haha. This happened at 7 in the morning and my ears rang until I went to bed that night. Everyone that heard it was in a daze for about 5 minutes haha. So just so yall know this is what can happen if your balist resistor goes bad and you keep cranken haha. The sign is you can crank and crank and crank but no fire and when you stop cranken it wants to fire or fires... STOP THEN haha!! Just thought ud get a kick out of my hearing loss..

Larry,  If you are cranking on the car and it does not start, it's not the ballast resistor.  The ballest resistor is bypassed when you are cranking on it.  (hint, the side that has 2 wires is the one from the ignition switch start mode and the other wire is going to the coil.  The other side of the ballast is energized when the key is in the run position.) If you let the key go and it starts the resistor is good.  Check your ignition switch.  The (Start) wire.  If you go to start the car and it starts and then you let the key go and it dyes,  well than that is  the ballast.   Also some more mopar auto 101,  , stop pumping fuel in the exhaust system next time..  If you continue to try to blow up the bird you will find it missing.....   :-)~

Haha I need to get you to talk to some mechanics, I spoke with three and all said that was a symptom of a bad ballast resistor!

P.S. send me ur cuda leads! Oh, and buy my charger..
