Hey Gang..
Just got off the phone with Mr. Jeffrey, Terry Michael Jeffrey, from "rock band?????". He was one of the three band members who owned Daytonas. Terry remembers my car very well and all were 440 autos on the floor

He owned the red (probably R4) with black interior and wing (maybe white?). I'll ask him again. Picture sure does look like it's white, but maybe it's the sun glare.

PS: I stand corrected by Terry's email last night.. His Daytona was red with white interior and wing......

Lewis Warford owned my car, V2 with black interior and wing
&
I believe Coryell, Silver with black interior and wing (maybe JoAnne's?)

All were bought new at Parker Dodge in Paducah, Ky @ about $4,900....... Wow !!!!

Now, if I can find Mr. Warford.. Past owners of mine were as well Andy French, maybe Gary's brother? And, before that, Mr. Conrad Irby.

I only found one Daytona listed as having originally shipped to Parker in Paducah, and there were only 5 listed as going to Kentycky.  That's not to say two others weren't re-routed or later swapped between dealerships, OR that the one on the list was definitely part of the trio sold to The Executives.

The Parker/Paducah car on the list is L9B402980 (not 402984, as that one is shown going to Amherst OH), and it's not a known car to me anyway.

I can't corroborate Dave's connection to 410797, as the only information I had was a VIN confirmation so I don't know what color it was/is.  It was shown on the Ship List as being sent to near Indianapolis which isn't horrifically far from KY but not next-door either.  Who knows, as stranger things have happened - but for me it's a big stretch in logic to say that it for sure is that car.

Geno,
Terry may chime in here. I forwarded the link to him and he may create a username. He would love to find out about his former red Daytona. I think you, or someone, mentioned my V2 went somewhere to Indiana? I'm assuming there weren't a whole lot of dealerships that got three Daytonas shipped to them. I'm jumping off the bridge here to think 2 or possibly 3 other Daytonas were transferred to Parker after they reached their initial designation from Creative Ind. Maybe the Y2 was traded for one of the other Daytonas........ After all, V2 and R4 stand out much more than Y2...  :icon_smile_big:

If I can find Lewis and Conrad, I would have contact about 5 different owners. The most recent being Pete Wiseman, Dave. M/Julius and Harvey, the guy I got it from.

I'd be in even worse shape without having everything computerized, been there too

Troy,

Your car is on the Ship List as having gone to Evansville, IN - maybe 100 miles or less as the crow flies to Paducah.  Not too much of a stretch.  You're quite correct in that not too many dealerships got three 'Tonas, and out of the ones who got three it may be even fewer that ended up actually selling the ones they received.

It is not guaranteed that 402980 is the red car Terry originally purchased.   Even if it is the correct car, I'm not going to be much help with finding out about that car right now, as it isn't currently on the radar screen anywhere.  Can't hurt to ask the questions though, as someone who does know may join up and chime in.

nascarxx29

Im still trying to transcribe my stuff to computer since 79-80 and up wrote down on paper scraps etc or talked info into camcorder from various events .And later would share car finds with Dave & Galen.Im still sorting it out. They tell me how many unknown cars I discovered for the records.I also found when searching the archive ads or the shiplist how many daytonas a certain dealer recieved. And was gonna to put out that list . How many daytonas 426 or 440 went to one particular dealer some got  1 or 2 maybe even 5 .Still not done with that page yet

The other KY shipped cars is a car I know 356510 Leon Jasper Original owner from Mc alpin Ky.

V2 black interior 4-speed, right?  If Leon is the original owner (I remember that being a confusing story) that rules it out.  BTW, has Leon been reunited with the broadcast sheet for the car, or does he even still own it?

Not necessarily... same dealership of course, but there is NO guarantee that the used car they were selling is the same one they received new.  Perhaps a decent chance of that being the case, but it cannot be said that it is the same car based on the scant information we have right now.  I have a record that the VIN has been confirmed, but no color or transmission info to increase the odds of it being the same car.  Personally, I tend to be a bit more of a skeptic on things like that until more info is known.  To each his own.

The only other KY cars on the Ship List are:

409045, which is Danny's dad's R4 red interior column-shifted auto car
400562, which is Dan Gaddis' car currently painted up in #71 livery.  I think that was a green car originally though

Lots of possibilities though for cars from surrounding states to have ended up in Paducah, just like Troy's car may have.  Does Terry remember if the cars were brand-spankin' new, or were they perhaps (slightly) used?  That would make a difference obviously...

nascarxx29

Doug Spotts who bought my friend Pats daytona Pat had this sheet since 78 .We tried getting Leon Jasper to look to see if he had his in his car. With no luck .I gave Doug all related info when he ran a ad looking for his buildsheet in the newsletter .The 2 cars are twins.Good karma Doug Croxford helped me get Doug Spotts the original motor back in the former owned Glen Peters supebird.Good to hear Leon Jasper buildsheet might find its way back with Dougs efforts .Wonder what sheet will be found in the Jasper daytona

Geno, I'll ask Terry and Lewis when I chat with them....... IIRC, Terry did mention he bought his car in '70... So, even though it was on the showroom floor, doesn't mean it was brand new...

Got confirmation from Terry just now, all three bought their Daytonas brand new from Parker Dodge. Apparently Lewis may have "ordered" his and Terry and Eddie bought theirs off the showroom floor, window sticker still on the car and plastic on the seats...    :2thumbs:

Also, per Geno's reference to a Y2 Daytona, he swears he remembers that car.

Talked to Lewis today, it was great.. Told me all sorts of stories and where the original motor went,, Kaboom!!!!!  That's why I don't get so hung up on original motors, most went bye-bye earlier on. He was cruising home from a gig one night, winding down curvy roads, slowing down only enough not to spin out and then get on it again as soon as the road went straight....... Then, a long stretch of road came into view and full-throttle !!!!! 130mph with 4.10's !!!!!  Needless to say, it didn't last long and the front windshield was covered,,,,,,,,,,, with oil......... :o

Apparently he sold it somewhere around '72/'73 when Andy French got a hold of it and then, it was Conrad Irby's turn. Conrad is the gentleman who gave Lewis a ride in the car after he pulled it out of a tobacco barn and restored it. From then, it's fuzzy until Pete got a hold of it......

Lewis will try to find any pictures he has. He knows at one time there was a picture of all three Daytonas together (maybe the original window sticker?). He bought the Daytona one day after doing a gig at the dealership for advertising (or something like that). He saw the Daytona and just had to have it. All three were making some good money, that's why the younger Terry (age 16) and Eddie were able to swing the cars I guess. The three Daytonas parked next to each other must have been a site..

Congrats Troy.I love these stories.I am addicted to car mags.I still have the first one that I bought with my own money. The stories of how the cars came to be is a good one.The Daytonas and the Birds to compete in NASCAR and the Eric Dalquist story with the 428 CJ cars and Bob Tasca, but what intrests me more is stories like this that go back and re-trace the cars steps through its life.Maybe it led a pampered life of A/C garages but maybe it was found in a junkyard by someone and brought back from the dead to be restored. These are the things that I enjoy the most.Again Troy, good job.I enjoy doing the detective work as well.

Thanks again nascarxx29, I do really appreciate your help. I did talk to PA and if I remember correctly their records don't go back that far. I also talked to Florida and had some hope but I sent in the form and in only went back to the guy that owned it from around 1973 and/or 1974 to 1978. I just haven't been able to figure out who owned it before 1973. That's where the part about the band trading 2-3 of them into Colonial Dodge in St. Petersburg Florida comes in. I guess it isn't really that important to know who owned it before then but for me I would like to know. When you mentioned the other day about checking the records for my car by the vin., did you need the rest of the vin to do so or did you already figure that out considering they start out the same.

Troy, you have Smoothie Irby's Car?.....unless he had more than one I know that car......I don't think I have a phone number for him but check the West Frankfort IL area for contact info for him.  He is at Monster mopar quite often

Leon Jasper is the orginal owner of his car we met him & his son at the Somerset Ky cruise 3 yrs ago and yes they still have the car.  I tried to email them last month when we went back to Somerset but the email did not work but I might have a phone number.  Is their build sheet still available.....give me info and I will try to get hold of them again.

I just talked to notabird and he thinks he has Smoothies phone #   I know who was Leons original builsheet .On this post of mine here is a xerox copy

On the front of the folder I have that came with the car, the names of Conrad Irby, Andy French, Terry Micheal Jeffery and Lewis Warford are written along with another name that's hard to make out. So, I'm taking it that Conrad at some point owned the car. Lewis mentioned that before he moved to Florida, he was at a mopar show, possibly either in Illinois or Missouri in which the then owner allowed him to drive it again. I mentioned Conrad's name and Lewis said that sounded familiar. The then owner had taken the car out of a tobacco barn, restored and showed it (supposedly Conrad). There's a phone number written on the folder and I googed it, it refers back to Conrad Irby. But, I tried calling the last two nights and the phone just rings, no answering machine.... Leon Jasper's name isn't any where on the folder. If the car in the Car Review magazine is Leon's, then it's not mine. My car is an automatic whereas Leon's is a manual. I do have one of the broadcast sheets to my car. Apparently Diane and Galen G. have listed my car as a broadcast sheet they know about. When I called them, Diane said she had come up a road block and her contact with the broadcast sheet couldn't be reached.... Maybe that was Conrad?

Troy I know that Leon Jasper car is not yours I was answering nascarxx29 regarding him knowing where the build sheet is

to me even if Leon has a copy of his build sheet and another one exists he should have the other copy also....so basically if someone has a build sheet for his car they just need to connect up with him to get it to him.....so that is why I asked if had not happened lets get it done.

The new owner of my friends old daytona that he had since 78 found .The Leon Jasper sheet in his car. I made and still have the zerox copy. And his car is only 1 last digit away from the Jasper car .There maybe be a chance Jasper car has the 356509 sheet. As far as I know nowbody looked in the Jasper car for a sheet. That Marvin Hughes longtime ago restored.

What is the name of the band? What is the story of the band?   The article from mopar muscle didnt name a band mentioned a unamed country western singer
The car came with the original buildsheet and a complete list of the previous owners, dating back to a certain unnamed Country Western singer who first ordered the orange B-Body. The story, as paraphrased by Pete, is that all the members of the band drove winged cars, Daytonas or Superbirds, and this member felt obliged to follow suit.

The band's name was indeed "The Executives" when he owned the Daytona........ From Terry, "But, it didn't last long.  Shortly after, and for many years, our band was "Flight 602", then in the mid-80's, we started going by my name - "The Terry Mike Jeffrey Band".

Hey Robert..
I did talk to the original owner Thursday night.. Now I'm trying to get a hold of Conrad and will try again today. I believe he was the 3rd or 4th owner. Think Andy French was the 2nd......

What I have thus far is:
1. Lewis Warford
2. Andy French - 1973
3. Conrad Irby - 1980
4. a John Burthe ( that's all the letters I can make out ) - 2001

then I lose track until
last -3 Pete Wiseman
last -2 Dave M.
last - 1 Harvey
last - me

There's #90 built written down with "Chrysler Warranty Block" - I'm sure that references the block Lewis got when the motor blew when he owned it.

There are also dates of Apr 69 and Nov 69..

I'm sure the:
Apr 69 = 427 ( Scheduled production date ) and
Nov 69 = sold date ( I'll ask Lewis )

Then, there's Airplane Co. written down....

Troy, you have Smoothie Irby's Car?...

Yeappers, that's him and his Daytona........

Just got off the phone with Conrad... A very pleasant conversation, some enlightening things about the car and yes Dave, Danny is his son. So, Mopars do fall in the family......

He still has a few original items to the car and has graciously offered to give them to me. One of the items are the original headlamp bucket springs/brackets... That's a great find. He has other items...

Apparently the car got sold unknowingly by someone, this John Burtle (spelling) gent who was "supposed" to get it ready for a Barrett-Jackson auction. But, it got sold to an individual without Conrad's knowledge. From Conrad it went to New York he recollects and from there, on the internet and sold to Pete and then, I know the history.. The paint job on the car is from '94 and what a good job it was, still holding up pretty darn good. He bought the car from Andy for a $1000 !!!! Wow.........

OK, I'm going to email Conrad now my address and thank him for his offer and conversation........   :2thumbs:

Apparently the seller trusted the "broker/detailer" implicitly to a fault. It was a case of someone who was trustworthy and got shafted. Been there, done that with my '68......

This John Burtle (if I'm spelling the name correctly, owned a security company). But, he wasn't really an owner to the car. It was Conrad's at the time. He was to detail the car and get it ready for Barrett-Jackson, but John sold the car beforehand, so Conrad never got to have that cool experience..... Based on what he did to Conrad, I don't feel comfortable talking to him anyways.......

Andy I would like to chat with...... Sounds like an interesting story, but apparently he pretty much put zero miles on the car after getting it to his place. At that time, it had a 383 in it..... I would have though Andy might be Gary French's brother from Kentucky....

Well,, Number 4 has been discovered, Mike Nasi.....  Being in a small world, that's the guy who bought my '71 Charger R/T survivor years ago just to immediately sell it........ Soooo, it's complete..........

Dave, you have one of those 440 replaced with 383 ads from Ky, that would be great. Maybe it's mine......

Parker Dodge - Paducah, Ky (apparently transferred over from a dealership in Indiana)
1. Lewis Warford - have spoken to this week
2. Andy French ( haven't contacted him )
3. Conrad Irby - have spoken to this week ( getting original parts from him I hope )
4. Mike Nasi - we have crossed paths before, he bought my former survivor '71 Charger R/T
5. Pete Wiseman
6. Dave Mikkelson
7. Harvey
8. your's truly (AB)

That is cool stuff.

I had similar luck tracking mine's history except I still haven't had any luck contacting the original owner, James L. Rose formerly of Manhattan, KS.

Hey Rick...
Just called that number, it's Gary French...... Not Andy..  :'(  But, I had a nice chat with Gary nonetheless.. As it is, Gary doesn't have a brother, so there's no kin-relation to Gary and Andy........
