Lots of possibilities though for cars from surrounding states to have ended up in Paducah, just like Troy's car may have.  Does Terry remember if the cars were brand-spankin' new, or were they perhaps (slightly) used?  That would make a difference obviously...

Geno, I'll ask Terry and Lewis when I chat with them....... IIRC, Terry did mention he bought his car in '70... So, even though it was on the showroom floor, doesn't mean it was brand new...

Got confirmation from Terry just now, all three bought their Daytonas brand new from Parker Dodge. Apparently Lewis may have "ordered" his and Terry and Eddie bought theirs off the showroom floor, window sticker still on the car and plastic on the seats...    :2thumbs:

Also, per Geno's reference to a Y2 Daytona, he swears he remembers that car.

Talked to Lewis today, it was great.. Told me all sorts of stories and where the original motor went,, Kaboom!!!!!  That's why I don't get so hung up on original motors, most went bye-bye earlier on. He was cruising home from a gig one night, winding down curvy roads, slowing down only enough not to spin out and then get on it again as soon as the road went straight....... Then, a long stretch of road came into view and full-throttle !!!!! 130mph with 4.10's !!!!!  Needless to say, it didn't last long and the front windshield was covered,,,,,,,,,,, with oil......... :o

Apparently he sold it somewhere around '72/'73 when Andy French got a hold of it and then, it was Conrad Irby's turn. Conrad is the gentleman who gave Lewis a ride in the car after he pulled it out of a tobacco barn and restored it. From then, it's fuzzy until Pete got a hold of it......

Lewis will try to find any pictures he has. He knows at one time there was a picture of all three Daytonas together (maybe the original window sticker?). He bought the Daytona one day after doing a gig at the dealership for advertising (or something like that). He saw the Daytona and just had to have it. All three were making some good money, that's why the younger Terry (age 16) and Eddie were able to swing the cars I guess. The three Daytonas parked next to each other must have been a site..

Congrats Troy.I love these stories.I am addicted to car mags.I still have the first one that I bought with my own money. The stories of how the cars came to be is a good one.The Daytonas and the Birds to compete in NASCAR and the Eric Dalquist story with the 428 CJ cars and Bob Tasca, but what intrests me more is stories like this that go back and re-trace the cars steps through its life.Maybe it led a pampered life of A/C garages but maybe it was found in a junkyard by someone and brought back from the dead to be restored. These are the things that I enjoy the most.Again Troy, good job.I enjoy doing the detective work as well.

Thanks again nascarxx29, I do really appreciate your help. I did talk to PA and if I remember correctly their records don't go back that far. I also talked to Florida and had some hope but I sent in the form and in only went back to the guy that owned it from around 1973 and/or 1974 to 1978. I just haven't been able to figure out who owned it before 1973. That's where the part about the band trading 2-3 of them into Colonial Dodge in St. Petersburg Florida comes in. I guess it isn't really that important to know who owned it before then but for me I would like to know. When you mentioned the other day about checking the records for my car by the vin., did you need the rest of the vin to do so or did you already figure that out considering they start out the same.

On the front of the folder I have that came with the car, the names of Conrad Irby, Andy French, Terry Micheal Jeffery and Lewis Warford are written along with another name that's hard to make out. So, I'm taking it that Conrad at some point owned the car. Lewis mentioned that before he moved to Florida, he was at a mopar show, possibly either in Illinois or Missouri in which the then owner allowed him to drive it again. I mentioned Conrad's name and Lewis said that sounded familiar. The then owner had taken the car out of a tobacco barn, restored and showed it (supposedly Conrad). There's a phone number written on the folder and I googed it, it refers back to Conrad Irby. But, I tried calling the last two nights and the phone just rings, no answering machine.... Leon Jasper's name isn't any where on the folder. If the car in the Car Review magazine is Leon's, then it's not mine. My car is an automatic whereas Leon's is a manual. I do have one of the broadcast sheets to my car. Apparently Diane and Galen G. have listed my car as a broadcast sheet they know about. When I called them, Diane said she had come up a road block and her contact with the broadcast sheet couldn't be reached.... Maybe that was Conrad?

Troy I know that Leon Jasper car is not yours I was answering nascarxx29 regarding him knowing where the build sheet is

to me even if Leon has a copy of his build sheet and another one exists he should have the other copy also....so basically if someone has a build sheet for his car they just need to connect up with him to get it to him.....so that is why I asked if had not happened lets get it done.

nascarxx29

The new owner of my friends old daytona that he had since 78 found .The Leon Jasper sheet in his car. I made and still have the zerox copy. And his car is only 1 last digit away from the Jasper car .There maybe be a chance Jasper car has the 356509 sheet. As far as I know nowbody looked in the Jasper car for a sheet. That Marvin Hughes longtime ago restored.

What is the name of the band? What is the story of the band?   The article from mopar muscle didnt name a band mentioned a unamed country western singer
The car came with the original buildsheet and a complete list of the previous owners, dating back to a certain unnamed Country Western singer who first ordered the orange B-Body. The story, as paraphrased by Pete, is that all the members of the band drove winged cars, Daytonas or Superbirds, and this member felt obliged to follow suit.

The band's name was indeed "The Executives" when he owned the Daytona........ From Terry, "But, it didn't last long.  Shortly after, and for many years, our band was "Flight 602", then in the mid-80's, we started going by my name - "The Terry Mike Jeffrey Band".
