Do you know if he has made any progress on the car yet?

I talked to him when he first picked that car up, and then got the Marty Robbins clone. Not sure if he ever started the resto or not.

nascarxx29

Is that the Marty Robbins clone built on a real 69 charger 500.I dont know what current progress was made on the canada daytona .The guy in Quebec or Montreal a Gilles C .Had sent me pictures and a price while back. This is the interior picture.and I dont believe it was a matching number engine car .But nowaday that dont matter and at $10K .Everybody I showed this car to passed as it needed some work. They wouldnt be saying that now giving a second chance to score it

Well if it's urban legend, then I've seen photos of that particular bigfoot.  Or whats left of it anyway.  I'll see if I can find them.  I'd like to know where the quarry is supposed to be though.  The guy who sent me the pics would only say that it's on the east coast.

69_500

He bought the Marty Robbins clone car, which had a real 500 rear window plug, but wasn't built on a 69 Charger 500 body. I believe it was a 70 Charger 500 body, but it did have a real plug.

Okay, I'll dig up what I can find.  As far as what I know, about two years ago a friend of mine wanted me to see some pics of a car he was going to buy.  It was a Daytona in an envelope for all intents and purposes.  The car was supposedly in the bottom of a rock quarry somewhere on the east coast of Canada.  I think, and I stress "THINK", he may have said Nova Scotia.  Anyway, he showed me the pics and I thought he e-mailed a set to me but I don't see them in any of my files and I wouldn't have deleted them.  There was only enough left to verify that it was once a Daytona.  The wing and nose were gone and it was a rusty twisted pile of junk.  You could make out the rear window plug and enough of a quarter stripe to verify the Daytona and my buddy had to have a serial number given to him I'm thinking because he was negotiating to buy it.  I don't know that he had numbers so don't get too excited, I'm just thinking that he would have asked for that much.  I spoke against it because of the car in an envelope thing but ultimately, I think the price was too much for him to justify.
I'll call him today and see what I can get to try and back some of this up.  Or at least make the trail worth following a little further.

The daytona in a quarry.Did this car ended up in there in the mid 70-s early 80-s.I got a old wingcar newsletter that made a mention of such a car .But no pictures

I don't know.  What was left was VERY rusty so it had been there a long time.  It was very twisted and picked over as well.  The more we talk about this, the more I want to know about it.  I don't know why but until now, the "car in an envelope" thing didn't really raise the proper alarms with me.  I told my buddy I thought it was wrong, but it never occured to me that they would sell it to someone else if he passed.  The numbers from this car could VERY easily be out there right now.
I tried to call him today and no answer.  I'll stay on it.

69_500

Please stay up on that one. Definately would be a red flag about one Wing car.

nascarxx29

I found a wingcar newsletter from 1980.That mentions about a Hemi daytona in quarry. If this helps estabalish a timeline for a search Ghoste

The story takes place as reported March 1980 as a .Steve Deem who is a scuba diver/salvage operator.Reports to the wingcar club president.Jim that at the bottom of a quarry is a hemi daytona and maybe a 68 hemi charger .And some other cars .That ended up there by back in the day by disgusted owners who reported these cars stolen and dumped them there forthe insurance money .And stolen joy riders and dumped there stolen cars there as well. The daytona is intact but was only missing the air cleaner. And the scuba guy was a salvager and was going to bring up the daytona from its 80ft deep grave .And part it out

Well, as I mentioned in the other thread, I have to be talking about a different car.  The pics I saw were of a car on dry land.  That story is interesting too though and it seems to ring a long forgotten bell.

nascarxx29

It came word for word .From a March 80 wing car newsletter. It was a quarry but filled with water?

Must have been reprinted somewhere else later on maybe?  Do they have it on their website maybe?

Ghoste

I talked to my buddy.  He thinks he still has pics on his laptop and he's going to try and find them.  He said he doesn't remember if he had anything with the vin or not but he'll check for that too.  He didn't think it was a quarry, he seemed to recall it as more like a gully.  It was in Nova Scotia (6pk Runner are you listening?) apperently and as far as he knows, it's still there.  It was 5000 for the vin tag, the fender tag, the portion of the rad cradle and trunk lip with numbers.

69_500

Seems like a steal to someone who is crooked. $5,000 to get all the numbers to make a HEMI wing car? Sounds like a dirt cheap investment to somepeople.

Ghoste

I never said it was Hemi car.  That was a few years ago now too, right before the current explosion.  He thinks it's still for sale but I doubt it.  It would have been about 2002, 2003.
