Putting together the dash and interior in my blue car,and took this bracket out of a box containing dash and steering column parts, cannot remember where this thing went.Would think it is to hold wires away from something, can't find it in my assembly manual either.Note it has a tab that would lock into surafce to keep it a certain way. Thanks

vancamp

if i remember correctly it holds the harness by the column sorry dont have a pic though.

Btw,I have been using my black car as a reference source to what screws go where, brackets, etc, and can't find this one anywhere under the dash.My black car is a very early car,and the blue one is late,so I understand things might be diff from one to the other.Like the brake light switch bracket is diif from each.
Vancamp, thats what I thought, but maybe I'm not seeing it right.

Paul, I think vancamp is right.
That bracket definitely looks familiar. I'll see if I can crawl under mine to get you a pic, too.

here's a picture I already had on the computer, it's from my '69. I think it holds the dash harness. Looks like it could be the same part, next to the speedo cable.  :shruggy:

Here's a pic of the correct location of the bracket.

Thanks guys, will check that out spot out for it to fit.richRTSE,that bracket you show in your pic is spot welded to the dash frame and is not removable, there are three more just like it in a row.
From no40jm's pic,it might be to hold up the speedo cable in a straight line to the gauge cluster to keep it from bending?Mine was not bent over,it has been just as seen in the pic.

no40jm

not for the speedo cable, its to hold the main wiring harness

Thanks no40jm,it looked to be in a diff location when I looked at your pic,but once I went under the dash to put it in,saw there was no way it was for the speedo cable.Anyway, had to go to a friends house today to get a part for the car,and he had sitting there his 69 Superbee,so I crawled under it to see how his was.It was rolled alittle diff than you have in your pic. When I saw the mark still there from mine, mine  never had the harness go thru it and was rolled the wrong way,and the tab was never turned down to cover wires. Now it is installed correct and doing its job as intended,to keep the harness from floating up into the wiper arms.

Also,my black car did not have it there, and might know why.The A/C heater box, being larger, comes right up to the brake pedal assembly bracket,so it looks like there is no room for it.I geuss.

mine never had  that bracket either  :scratchchin:
