A great restoration project. It's at 30K now and the reserve isn't met yet.
So what will it go for?

And what is it worth after restoration?

My inclination would be to do a cosmetic restoration, ie: seats, rug, engine repaint....correct hubcaps....and drive it.

wow! great car . i would just clean that car up. rebuild the mechanicals and drive it . if it gets up into the 40's or 50k . i'd rather get a superbird .
I won't be wronged, I wont be Insulted and I wont be laid a hand on. I don't do these things to others, and I require the same from them.

I would like to know who is the one who talked the owner out of the car, or into selling it. I have known about this car for about 5 years and tried like crazy to get a chance to come down and look at the car previously. Only to get a run around quite a bit. Then after 3 years finally getting to see a few photo's of the car and talk to a few people who had actually seen the car. But could not get anything worked out to get a chance to come down and actually see the car.
Very nice combination of options on the car. I like the cruise control. Color combo is awsome.
As far as I know it is one of at 3 that is in the color combination of X9 with C6R interior. And of those 2 are 440 cars and one is a HEMI.

Jim I think this one would look very nicely in your collection of cars. I would swap my C500 for it in a heart beat.

I'm no authority on 500s, but I am familiar with the history of these cars - to a point.

From what I've been able to gather, all 500s (and later Daytonas) were derived from Charger R/Ts.

The initial batch of 500s actually left Creative Customs with their XS designation still in place. As more of the cars were processed they changed to the more familiar XX, then onto Daytonas which were all XX.

If I actually had the 500 list in front of me, I could tell you definitively, but the ad states it an "early production" 500.

Saying that, maybe it wasn't given the benefit of a full tag conversion.

My 1st Charger 500 had XS on it's original title............

If you see any Charger 500's with XX on the fender tag that have a production date listed before November 14th of 1968 then it is a fake tag. EVERYONE of them before B14 has XS. it is about a split as far as the ones on B14 as to what they have. After that its XX as far as the fender tags are concerned. Engine stampings is another story and so are the broadcast sheets. Nothing followed the same order it seems on these cars. Then you have the 3 odd ball cars that don't have XX on anything at all on the cars, tags, engine, trans, broadcast sheet or anything yet are still 500's. Go figure.

I se a minimum of 50K going into it to bring the car back.

Hi,

I might sound strange but I would only do the mechanics, try to get some dents out and would drive it as it is. Survivor cars are hard to find and I like them even if the "patina" is rougher.

Maybe I could do a "Troy-trade"?  :icon_smile_big:  Maybe this guy's very first car was a Y2 C500 with black interior and 4.10's?.............  Na.... The owner's not even the one selling the car...........  Would be a great car nonetheless and I'd be tempted too just to leave alone for awhile.........

Oh my, Black with red int, factory air, cruise , etc etc etc, if it wasn't for that funky looking grille ,it's my kind of car

( sorry never been a huge fan of a 500 )

gtx6970

BTW, there used to be a Black with black int 500 in Cincinnatti Oh, with less than 100 miles on it.

Earl Gettlefinger  had + sold it years ago. and last I heard Steve Fox owned it( twice actually) , but have my doubt he still has it
